No it is someone who's been on this board, and she's a woman, not a man! It's got pictures, too. I'm so excited over it!

HOW MUCH LONGER??

I'm so glad that the diaries are going to be published so we can see first hand what the girls were thinking and feeling from their own words, not assumptions by anyone else.

Ooooh does anyone know when the GDs diaries will be coming out?? That sounds fantastic! I was going to buy Alexandra's diaries but I thought they might be a bit boring.  'Had cafe au lait.  Played bezique' is hardly a thrilling read.  Someone please correct me if I'm wrong and I'll look into getting a copy.

You people sound like Mystic Meg, who used to predict the lottery winners on British TV.  'It could be a man...or a woman...they could be short...or tall...'

Rachel, if I may be honest. The 1918 diary is not boring. What you expect is true. But still I had things, that I learned about in the 1918 diaries. If you read true the lines, you will read about the loving character of Alix.

And the diaries of OTMA, are written on the same way, as that of their parents.

Thanks Teddy. :)

I'm adding Alexandra's diary to the list of books I intend on buying when I have some money to spare, then.  I know what you mean about 'reading between the lines'.  Often the most meaningful information is gleaned from what is not said.

Sorry, the English Literature student is coming out in me again..must repress...

So, seeing as people know who is editing these diaries, when are they coming out? Come on, someone must know! Don't keep us in suspense!!!

Rachel,

For example, she writes about a rumour that Felix was killed. Everyone expects, that this rumour would make Alix joyfull. But thats not what happened.

Also she mentioned Grand Duke Dmitri. Thats also something what you didn't expect.

That sounds pretty exciting! I think if you read between the lines, their diaries are very interesting. They are not tell-all type things, but they do have lots of valuable information.

Thats also what I think, that you must expect of the diaries of OTMA. You must read between the lines. For me, thats what you also have to do, with the 1918 diary of Alix. Read between te lines.

You don't expect a diary full of emotions. That was not the custom those years, to express all your diaries. It was just a sort of agenda. Only the most important things you did every day.

Here is the link to a thread with a page from tatiyanas diary in it, scanned by Matushka: A Page From Tatiyana's Diary

It's in Russian, though. There is a translation, also by Matushka.
