I don't think it was a painting it was a chalk sketch and looks like an incomplete one...

Anyway I would have loved to see this in bigger! It's nice, and a bit like the art works of Maurice Quentin de la Tour- if you know him. Somewhere it reminds me of this, even when another time!

Yes, this one, mother-in-law of Archduchess Isabella, mother of her husband Archduke Friedrich...

It looks very much like from the same artist!! Do you know the name? Any idea?

Maybe he did both people as they were from the same family through marriage...

Nice anyway, even if some parts do look a bit incompleted...

And here the family all together....

I'd like to start a discussion about the 8 daughters of Archduke Friedrich and his wife Isabella Croy:

Maria Christina (1879-1962), Maria Anna (1882-1940), Maria Henriette (1883-1956), Natalie (1884-1898), Stéphanie (1886-1890), Gabrielle (1887-1954), Isabella (1888-1973) and Maria Alice (1893-1962).

Only one of Friedrich's daughters, Maria Anna, made an illustrious marriage (Elie of Bourbon-Parma, 1903)

Isabella, who was married to a grandson of Empress Elisabeth for only a few months, seems to be quite interesting. There is the rumour that she was much more attracted to women than to men.

What do we know about Natalie and Stéphanie who died when they were still children? And what about Gabrielle who never married and died alone and in poverty?

There is also a  thread on George of Bavaria & Isabella who were married and then divorced/annulled.

Princess Catherine Radziwill (who is not of course a highly-reliable source of information) wrote in one of her books about Isabella's disastrous and brief marriage to Georg of Bavaria (Radziwill hinted on Georg's rudeness to his wife) and her further dedicated service at WW I as a nurse. Also the authoress mentions that at WW I actions she meet some aged doctor whom she fell in love and wanted to marry.

Here is a photo of Archduchess Isabella and six of her daughters.

Maria Christina and Maria Anna
Natalie (?), Isabella with little Isabella, Gabrielle and Maria Henriette (?)

Does anybody have pictures of Natalie or Stéphanie?

Yes, that's Natalie at the very left.

The same ONB archiv has a photo of Archduchess Isabella and baby Stephanie on her knees.

Yes, I saw this picture when I visited the archive last summer. I didn't buy a copy and unfortunately it hasn't been put online yet.

There are so many photos of Friedrich's daughters, but I've never seen a single one picturing Stéphanie. That's strange.
