I think it went back to her family. When her brother Antonio married Eulalia, they were presented to her as part of the wedding gifts.

It came from a Spanish illustrated magazine of 1878. In Britain, the illustrated magazines at the time were led by the Illustrated London News and later The Graphic.  In Spain, a similar illustrated magazine was la Ilustracion Espanola y Americana.

If we'ere talking about the same picture, I believe that "Eugenie of Montijo" posted the pic you inquired about in the "The Most Beloved Queen: Mercedes" topic.  It's the third entry in that topic.

I think it was done from a skept from the coffin. She was changed into the nun's habit after her death...

In her biography there are many photos of her and her family (family portraits, childhood pics etc); it also includes a photo of Mercedes lying on a bed dressed in a habit (I think it's the habit of the Order of Saint Francis, but I could be wrong -maybe it was a Benedictine habit now I think of it). There's a similar photo of her sister-in-law, the Infanta Isabel lying also in a nun's habit in Paris, where she died fifty years later, in 1931.

yes,by ana de sagrera,a friend of infanta eulalia's. the bio is quite good and quite long considering mercedes' short life. i'm now writing a bio on eulalia

a bio on whom? Mercedes or Eulalia? Eric-Lowe, you don't by any chance know how I can get in touch with Medrano, as there are a couple of facts I want to point out to him on a book he's written. If he is writing a bio on Eulalia I'd be the most eager person to collaborate with him. How can I contact him?

Yes he is researching one on Infanta Eulalia. How far I do not know. Last I heard he was on holiday. Will tell him once I get into contact with him again.
