Restorations and renovations in St.Petersburg - news

   I freely admit  liking modern architecture innovations,  however, I cannot see any place in St.P. for that dreadful Otka tower.

I think you mean Okhta Center, really a dreadful project.

 And the AP itself? for Putin?  I doubt that very much.  Frankly, I thought the whole thing should have been bulldozed years ago.  What is it being restored as anyway?  Alexander i and his era?  Nicholas I, etc.? or a shrine to N&A ?  Their rooms were not exactly earth-shateeringly  statements of the ars decoratif.

Robert, do you really think the AP Palace should have been bulldozed years ago? ?

The stables built by the architect Bosse for Nicolai Nocolaievitch in Znamenskaya near Strelna will be restored!

I slipped two links, the pictures are very beautiful and the video is  interesting to see even if if you don't speak Russian.

3 million rubles have already been assigned to protect the buildings, historical shows could be organized here in the future.

The stables built by the architect Bosse for Nicolai Nocolaievitch in Znamenskaya near Strelna will be restored!

I slipped two links, the pictures are very beautiful and the video is  interesting to see even if if you don't speak Russian.

3 million rubles have already been assigned to protect the buildings, historical shows could be organized here in the future.

The link to "great news" is from summer 2008 year. And nothing special in that till now NOTHING had been done/restored. Only the territory of the Stables is being guarded.

I wished we knew where had been those 3 mln rubles till now...

The main destroyer there is time and numerous inhabitants during the Soviet era.

The house of books on Nevsky prospect is truly a beautiful building



 with a fabulous elevator in liberty style is really a beauty

What is this palace?

It is a hall in the former St. Petersburg Assembly of the Noble (today - St. Petersburg Philharmonia)

Am I right in thinking that the lift shown above is like the one used by the Empress at the Alexander Palace? While it is gone now it had to be fairly slim bearing in mind the width of the corridor used by the Imperial Family.
