I had your same doubt in first time, but I think that it is a drawing (sorry if I'm wrong), indeed based on a very famous photo of Nicholas and Alexandra...however it's surely well done, I have watched it for more than 10 minutes to see if it was really a drawing or a photo... ;)

#224  RF4E  That looks to be a knife cut.  Someone didn't like Nicholas very much and decided to take it out on that portrait.

You're right, I wonder if it is an original portrait of early 20th century or just a reproduction...however in both cases it was an action of very bad taste.

Re  Reply # 247:  Agreed, Alixz!  A common form of spite has always been to deface facial representations of public figures.  Even in ancient Roman times noses were knocked off statues, profiles were slashed on coins, etc.     AP

In 1917 portraits of the Emperor Nicholas II were destroyed because of the revolution  in Russia
