Is it me but I thought the Tsar had blue eyes but they seem brown in this painitng?

They don't look brown to me. They look grey-blue.

Can anyone explain the fate of Serov's famous portrait of Nikolai II?  I know that one of the oil versions was slashed during the revolution, but it seems that at least 2 versions still exist.  One is at the Russian Museum or Hermitage, I believe.  Was the slashed version repaired? Are the present Serov portraits of NII studies for the final copy? Thanks.

Hi Nena,

Nice portraits -- the 3rd is especially interesting. with all of the aftermath of the revolution worked in, I guess.  The 2nd one is pretty well known.  Google search says it was done by Henrich Manizer.
