She was not a candadidate for King Alfonso XIII, but for the King's eldest son Alfonso, Prince of Asturias.

Marc, do you know "Ein Photoalbum aus dem Hause Habsburg"? You can find nice pictures of Cäcilie as a child with her cousins in it. You could also check http://www.worldroots.com for pictures on her.

Sadly, I only know that she married Franz Joseph 6th Prince zu Salm -Reifferscheidt-Krautheim und Dyck in 1930, with whom she had seven children.

Cäcilie was the younger sister of Rosemary zu (!) Salm-Salm, who married Hubert Salvator, Archduke of Austria in 1926. Hubert was the second son of Archduchess Marie Valérie, herself daughter of Empress Elisabeth and Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria.

Hubert inherited the famous "Kaiservilla" in Bad Ischl. His son Markus lives still there.

Hello,

On this page you find a picture of Cäcilie (but only as a child) and her genealogy, it´s quite interesting her Habsburg-ansistors...

One of Cacilie and Franz Josef's daughters was Princess Marie Anne of Salm-Reifferscheidt, who married The Hon. Alexander Geddes, brother of Margaret "Peg" Geddes, the last Grand Duchess of Hesse and wife of Louis "Lu", Grand Duke of Hesse.

It´s interesting...yes indeed... 8-)

On pages like corbis.com and seegerpress there are interesting pictures of her nephew Markus (Erzherzog Markus, son of Rosemary of Salm-Salm and Hubert Salvator). who is a greatgrandson of Franz Joseph and Elisabeth.
There are interesting pictures of him and his family. For me he looks much different to his father Hubert Sav., maybe it comes from Rosemary ::)
he is married a civil lady from Austria, Hildegard Jungmayr and has -I think- three children from her...!

It should mean: "of one daughter", sure that she doesn´t have only one ;)

:) You are right ! Cecilie had 7 daughters and NO son....
This lady on the picture is her 4th daughter:  Altgräfin Isabella zu Salm-Reiffenscheid-Krautheim und Dyck, wife of Franz-Albrecht Metternich-Sandor, Duke of Ratibor, Prince of Corvey and Prince of Hohenlohe-Schillingfürst-Breunner, and.....guess what ? She has 5 SONS...and...No daughter... ( They have many aunts though...) :)

The fact Franz Josef and Cecilie only had daughters meant the Princely house of Salm-Reifferscheidt-Krautheim and Dyck became extinct in the male line following the death of Franz Josef in 1958.
