The Feodorovsky Gosudarev (Sovereign`s) Cathedral consist of two churches: the upper church with the Saint Aleksey`s chapel and the lower (crypt) church with Alexandra`s private chapel.
The upper church (for 1000 people) was dedicated to the icon of the Feodorov Mother of God.

Plan of the upper church. Project. 1909. Architect V.A. Pokrovsky.

Many thanks Vladimir! It is marvelous to see the plan with the identification of the entrances for it has been confusing understanding the various photographs c1910s and c2000s. Are all open now for entry or will I go in from #1 and #7?

Amazing - thank you Vladimir!  It's time we did a website just for the Feodorovski Sobor - would you like to help?

Any other volunteers?

Entrances to the Upper Church of the Feodorovsky Sobor -

No.1   The Great West Door is open on holydays
No.3   The Tsar's Porch is used by the clergy
No.5   General entrance to the Upper Church

Work is continuing apace in both the Upper and Lower Churches.   Currently the Lower Church is closed while murals and fabric are applied to the walls of the refectory etc.   There are plans to open a Guest House which will connect with the Crypt Church.   This will provide a very special shelter to up to four visiting pilgrims.

The Tsar's Study has been restored.

Work is continuing on the iconostasis of the Upper Church.   A new floor has been laid and the walls have been plastered but are not yet decorated.

There are up to three services every day in the Upper Church.   On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, in excess of 800 Orthodox Christians receive the Holy Sacrament   This forms a small percentage of the total numbers attending.   Orthodox Believers are not required to receive the Sacrament on a weekly or even monthly basis.

Bob's idea to create a website specifically for the Feodorovsky Sobor would be hugely appreciated by Father Markell and his congregation.   One of whom we may discuss later.
