I wasn't sure where to post this topic, so I hope this is the right place. If it isn't, I'd be glad to know if there's a more appropriate place.
My question is wether the elaborate external decoration on Churches and Cathedrals like St. Basil's in Moscow and the Church on Spilled Blood in St. Petersburg has a name or is known as a certain type. I have been able to determine that the basic building design is known as a tented church, but that has nothing to do with external decoration. Some tented churches have quite plain exteriors.
Also, does anyone know if there are any other churches or cathedrals in Russia with similar elaborate external decoration?
