I am interested in Igor Sikorsky. a pioneer of the Helicopter, especially his early life in Imperial Russia till 1917,any reference material on him would be appreciated.

Sikorsky built his first helicopter in Kiev sept 11, 1909.
Sikorsky in Kiev ( Kourenevsky fields) flies 250m on board his biplane "Sikorsky-2". June 3, 1910
Sikorsky flies on the first Russian monoplane (made by Bylinkine) : height 15m. June 16, 1910 ( Kiev)
November 1910: 33 pilots were registered in Russia ( 2nd place in the world after France).
July 1912 St Petersburg-Berlin 1600 km 17 hours ( pilot: Abramovitch)
August 1912 : on the 2nd Russian Air Force Exhibition, Sikorsky reveives first Prize for his biplane.
May 1913 First hydroplane "Sikorsky-10" flies for the first time.
May 1913 Biplane "Grand" from Sikorsky in St Petersburg flies for the first time.
July 1913  4 motors biplane "Russian Vitiaz" from Sikorsky flies for the first time.
September 1913  3rd Russian Air Force Exhibition in Petersburg. 1st prize: biplane Sikorsky-10; 2nd prize: monoplane Sikorsky-11.
December 1913 "Ilya Mourometz" the biplane built by Sikorsky flies for the first time. 4 motors bomber.
June 1914 St Petersburg-Kiev 1280 km 13 hours 5mn on board "Ilya Mourametz" with I I Sikorsky, Kh F Prussis, G I Lavrov, V S Panasiuk.
August 1914 Four units of Military Pilots flying on " Ilya Mourometz", 7 in September (32 "Ilya Mourometz" already built).

                  Thank you again, for your interesting research, I came across a website on him the other day -  Igor I. Sikorsky Historical Archives, worth a look  ;)
