Well, I m involved in the Romanov History for a very long time now, but I have just read that Minnie, the Dowager Empress, did not stay with the rest of the family when they were at Livadia. She stayed at an own castle at Livadia. Can anyone give me some information about that?
I really would appreciate your help! ;)

Why didn't you post your question in "Marie Feodorovna" thread?
The Empress lived in Maliy Dvorets where her husband had died.

I've read in a book (I think King, Kaiser, Tsar) that Minnie didn't stay at the Marly (?) palace when she stayed at Livadia. Something about the memory of her husband dying in that place. But then again, that book has a lot of mistakes when it came to information about the Tsar.

After 1894 Maria Fedorovna did stay at the Maily Dvorets as well as Nicholas II and his family, only in the begininng of the 20 cent. the Emperor decided where to built a new palace.

Why do these authors write a book with some inaccurate info? Don't they have someone to research it for them? Sorry, getting off topic here. It's just that its frustrating when you read different books with different accounts. Thanks for clarifying.

MF did not visit the Crimea after her husbands death, until  April 1917. Her first visit to Livadia was on May 5.

Prior to that she wrote a letter to her brother Prince Valdemar.
"I havn't yet been to Livadia, which will be so hard for me to see after 22 years. Never did I think that I would come back to the Crimea, which I so loved before, when we lived happily with my belowed angel Sasha. But after the indescribable pain of loosing him and all the sad memories, I could not imagen myself living here again. Now I was forced to do so by the circumstances...."
