Yes, that movie is very much unaccurate. Too many numerous mistakes to mention! However, I do agree that they put good music in the movie. Well, only 'Once Upon A December.' 'Journey To The Past' is alright and so is 'At The Beginning.'

I know that this is off-topic, but HOW in the world would you expect an animated children's movie about the last Romanovs to be historically ACCURATE??
I mean, just think about your children watching the Romanov massacre, animated, and learning the true darkness and mystery surrounding it.....I don't think that would seel for children, or any company for that matter, and no one would WANT to see this story factual in animation.  :-/
Anyway, the music is indeed beautiful from this movie. The lyrics are wonderful, as well. I always cry during "Once Upon A December"  :'(

I have liked that song since I heard it! It is so haunting...And children's movies are usually not totally accurate to say the least, but I have always liked the movie personally..good luck on finding the sound track!

Yes. I don't think you could possibly make a childrens movie on the Romanovs 100% historically accurate. Too many things that would be upsetting to a young child.

I really liked the movie when I was a kid, and it really made me want to get out and investigate the Romanovs more. It was the factual inaccuracies that made me more interested in finding out the truth of the matter for myself. And I liked how it showed the Romanovs in a symbolic way, and it does help one understand the story in that light.
I watched it, and watched it, and it does give a good impression of the emotions involved although events, and chracters are not always accurate. But hey, what movie is that accurate. ;) The music is stunning, and there is something there that connects you to the Romanovs, and being aimed at kids, it might help them become more aware of the real Romanovs through the fictional film.

Thanks! No luck so far since none of my local stores have it. I'm going to check Amazon next and if it's available add it to my shopping cart.

And yes, Laura Mabee! I would love to hear some sound clips!  I love the music.

The exact cue you're looking for is Prologue, track 11.
Hatred – this is a disgusting feeling. Yes, there is sport gambling, there is a striving to win. But to hate someone – this is awful! I think, that first of all you have to learn to respect your rival. -- Evgeni Plushenko

You're not referring to all the music in the film, are you? Because David Newman did a phenomenal job with the score.

I can't say I'm a huge fan of this movie because I'm such a stickler for historical accuracy but I do like it.  It wasn't supposed to be historically acccurate because it was made to be a childrens cartoon and you could not possibly make a movie/cartoon about the last of the Romanov's and have it 100% accurate. There is just too much that would be upsetting for young children. (Alexei's illness, the war, the murders) I know I would not have wanted to see  things like that as a child.

And I LOVE the music!
