After fighting with ministers, and after two minister warned Draga that is all in her hand, to refuse King's engagement, they menaced to her. She tried to escape from county, and hide at her aunt. King came at her house, and ordered to her younger brother to bring her back. It was 8. July 1900 -- King put beautiful ring on her finger. It was engagement. Marriage was arranged to be on July 23rd 1900.

Back to Nathalie -- she was shocked, her son married her former 'lady -in waiting, widow, older woman, barren'. People accepted her as a Serbian Queen, but later, she was hated by ministers, yournalists, Court, women. She(Nathalie) abandoned Alexander as her son, in publicity, felt sorry because she gave birth him. King Milan didn't want to come to country never again. Any contact between Nathalie and Pair was broken.

Nathalie sent letter to Tsar Nicholas II that Draga probably lie she is pregnant, and Tsar sent doctor to Belgrade, Surgenev, who inspected Queen Draga. She was not pregnant, it was identified as ' spiritual gestation'.

Nathalie lived peacefully in her 'Sachino' Palace in Biarritz. Then came 1903. Nathalie wanted    atonement with son and Draga. Here is last letter of her to her son written several weeks before assassination:

'' Dear son, God wanted for you to knuckle of his temptation, but you wasn't strong - you succumbed! However, it is not too late! Back return to mother's arms, which will and can help you! Draga is a smart woman. Make agreements with her. She wanted to be Queen and she became. History will record her name near yours. But now, to her, as a smart woman, offer a peaceful split. She may go outside, and there if you want, love each other, but give place to a better/honorable woman, which people will gladly accept. You will be happy. She wll be happy. All of us will be happy. It is all in your hands. Your unlucky mother is kissing you. Nathalie .''

She was in Paris, walking in Versailles, when heard the saddest news in her life - Couple was murdered in Palace in early hours on May 29th/June 11th 1903. Since that moment, Nathalie's life became dark. She wore only black clothes since then. Some people she is one of most tragic Queens. She said - ' I saw how they killed my son, but I couldn't do anything'. Many tears since that day. She didn't sleep.

Nathalie built two churches in Biarritz. All action capital belonged to her. She gave several things to University.

Even when she died she was a very rich woman...but most of them who had the chance to see her in that period thought that she was a pauper!

Very nice picture. Who was parents of Princess Pulcheria Sturdza, and when she lived?

Can't find her biography now,but anyway Nathalie doesn't mention Pulcheria's parents and her grandparents...her mother was from the family that ruled in Moldavia...she just mentioned that when her mother died she was raised by her mothers sister Princess Mourousi(once ruling Princes of Wallachia) whose husband Prince Mourousi was her guardian and also says that her mother had another sister who was married to a French Count who was an ambassador...

Trough Sturdza family Nathalie is from today's point of view also related to the great families like Princes of Bourbon Two-Sicilies,Gortschakow,Kotchubey,Koudachev,Putiatin,Ghika,Counts von Schönborn-Wiesentheid,Dembinsky,Barons Schell von Bauschlott and so on...

Btw,there was one more Sturdza in the family...her husband's(King Milan's) great-grandmother was also Princess Roxana Sturdza who was also a grandmother of Nathalie's father Colonel and president of the nobles assembly of Bessarabia,Peter Keshko...Roxane's brother brother Michail was ruling Prince of Moldavia from 1833-1848...I assume that Princess Pulcheria Sturdza was close relative of her husbands grandmother Princess Roxane Sturdza...that is how the marriage market worked at that time among noble families,so this could be a clue to Pulcheria's parents...

Forgot to add that Nathalie's dowry was 6.000.000 rubles...

What were names of Pulcheria sister Mourusi and her husband Prince Mourusi? I found http://www.ghyka.com/Familles/Mourousi/Mourousi.pdf
and three pairs Mourusi-Sturdza about half 19 century:
Alexandru (1805-1873) and Smaranda Sturdza (-1884)
Alexandru (1817-1878) and Adela Sturdza (-1905)
Constantin (1819-1886) and Ecaterina Sturdza

I dont know which of them are Nathalie's. Maybe you can find their children in that genealogy tree, if Nathalie mentioned them.

For now, we cannot find when Pulcheria Studza died, and name of her another sister, parents...
Are there any genealogy tree of Sturdza family on the net?

Thanks for informtion about Roxana Sturdza. I think also that Roxana and Pulcheria are in close relation.

Thank you for this...I can't answer to you until I find her biography somewhere in my house...I will try to look up for it.Still you did a great job finding this...I don't know about Sturdza genealogy...they are mentioned in the site http://aristoromania.blogspot.com/2009/06/catargiu-family.html but not in particular as far as I know...
