Yes. I think that would make his mother Clothide of Saxe-Coburg, and cousins to the children of Foxy...

didn't Gisela's grandmother Sophie didn't like the Hungarian Branch of the Habsburgs? I think she  wouldn't have liked for her great granddaughter to marry on the side.

Franz Joseph was very attracted to Archduchess Elisabeth who was a member of the Hungarian branch - but his mother Sophie didn't like Hungary at all, that's right.

I don't think fundamentally speaking Archduchess Sofie would be able to bully Elizabeth of Hungary the way she did with poor Sisi. Sofie was power hungary and even banished her half sister Dowager Empress Auguste Caroline to Salzburg because she wanted to be the highest ranking lady in vienna.

Gisela's daughter Elisabeth and her husband. She certainly resembled her mother a lot!

Yes, she did :-). But Elisabeth's features were a bit softer.

Elisabeth was completely like her mother ;-)
Are there images of Elisabeth as a girl? I'd like to know if she looked like her mama as a girl

Beautiful!!!. Thanks for sharing

Gisela as a young woman has tons of beautiful portraits. This is one of my favorites

Ps: can someone tell me  circa which year this picture was taken?. Is Franz Joseph with his daughters and grandchildren.- Also Between Erzsi and Gisela is Ludwig Viktor and beside Gisela, Luitpold

This photo was taken in front of the Kaiservilla, Bad Ischl on August 18th 1900. It was Franz Joseph's 70th birthday.

(left to right, front row) Elisabeth Franziska, Hedwig, Franz Carl Salvator, Hubert Salvator, Marie Valérie

(left to right, second row) Franz Joseph, Georg of Bavaria, Elisabeth Marie, Ludwig Victor, Gisela, Leopold of Bavaria

Actually this painting is a miniature by Friedrich Wailand, 1871. The same year he also made a miniature of Rudolf.

The stars that Elisabeth has on her hair belonged to Sissi or were other completely different???
I agree completely with you Katenka ;-)

Today the original stars are in possession of different museums (for example the Sisi Museum in Vienna) and some of Elisabeth's descendants (for example Marie Valérie and Margaretha Valérie, Marie Valérie's great-granddaughters).

The stars Elisabeth Seefried is wearing in the picture are completely different ones.
