I think, she had a good profile. in that looks like her mother as a teen but with dark bushy eyebrows.  :D

I don't got it, I don't find Sisi to be "BEAUTIFUL" like everyone else says, yes, she attractive, but not the beautifulest woman in the world! I find Ella of Hesse, to be more attractive then Sisi.

Princess Susan, I believe that the pictures I have of Gisela are all well-known pictures...

I like so much this picture (sorry if this has been posted a thousand times or more...):

I think She looks more like children you see with cute faces that can be either boy or girl. I am thinking of Hayley Mills for some reason...! ;)

She does not and graceful...that made her unattractive in her mother's eyes. Was Gisela close to her cousins ?

Here I totally agree with you. I don't find Empress Elisabeth a beauty either. Pretty, yes, but not a beautiful woman.

I think it is very hard to judge on the basis of photographs and portraits, as they can be very misleading. Having said that, I do agree that in some of the photographs the Empress does not look beautiful. However, there seems to have been general consensus among her contemporaries that as a young woman she was very beautiful indeed. Nevertheless, when her assassin was describing how he murdered her he commented that she was extremely ugly, so obviously her looks faded with increasing age.

I find Gisela attractive, I like her expression/eyes, so I suppose that beauty really is in the eye of the beholder.

The picture certainly looks as if it has been touched up, as the pattern on the curtain behind does not continue into the areas beside the waist, and they have the suspicious granulated effect by which you can tell when a picture has been doctored.

Totally off of topic but still talking about corsets...it is posible to have that painful waist....Cathie Jung and this lady from the belle epoque are the proof. Introduce you (just in case you didnt know her..)...Miss Pauline Polaire. Attention!! this pictures  hasnt been touched up!

About the only royal person to have a genuinely tiny waist was Princess. Maud of Great Britain, later Queen of Norway.  Mostly, royal womens' waists and hips in photos were treated the way Gisela's was.  But Maud's waist looked really tiny, though presumably it wasn't just corsets which achieved that - she was small, and very athletic, so diet and exercise played a considerable part.
