Thanks for all the information, guys!

I really admire Gisela, she seemed have overcome a disfunctional and toxic family situation.  Having a mother who viewed herself as some sort of goddess is not usually a good thing.  It may be that old Archduchess Sophie did well in removing Gisela and Rudolf from Sissi's care.  That and her early marriage saved her, IMO.

Countess Augusta von Seefried auf Buttenheim (1899-1978) in 1919 married back into the House of Wittelsbach with Prince Adalbert of Bavaria (1886-1970).

Thanks Allan ! Nice to hear from you since RD !

I don't agree that Sophie removing Gisela from Sisi was a good thing. Gisela's sister Valarie grew up with their mother and turn out fine too. Sophie's action robbed Gisela of a mother's affection !  >:(

Although Marie José was Gisela's aunt, she was one year younger than Gisela. The former Archduchess Gisela admired Marie José because she always knew how to dress. Whenever Marie José told Gisela that a special dress or hat was up-to-date, Gisela went to town and bought it. Family members laughed about this behaviour.  ;)

Well, the house of Wittelsbach, it had many tragedies as well. Gisela's portrait as a girl is lovely-thanks for posting it! She had great colouring, and was quite pretty.

Where did she live? In Austria, even after the end of the monarchy?
Thank you

Maybe some will find it strange and will not share my opinion, but in my view Gisela looked better in older age than in her younger days. It´s strange, but I know different pics and I like her more, when older.

Has anyone got a good picture of her daughter Auguste, who married again in the Hapsburg family- Hungary line?

After her wedding to Leopold Prince of Bavaria she left Vienna for Munich. Leopold had a nice palais there.

I think Elisabeth's life was much more interesting than the life of her sister Auguste. Maybe we should dedicate a new topic to her as well?

And yes, Marie Valerie, I have lots and lots of nice photos of Elisabeth and her family.  ;)

Maybe there could be a possibility to separate the Bavarian nobility (Wittelsbach) from the Hohenzollern as it was once made with the Habsburgs (who once were a part of the Hohenzollern section as well)?

The problem is only that a moderator for this would be needed then, but one could ask Rob, if it is of interest, but he has a lot of work.
