that picture of the young Marie is nice; she is dressed in dark clothing rather than than white the young grand duchesses so often wear in formal photos, or informal photos except some of the ones taken with those hats on, where they are dressed in very dark colours.

Ah, but their sailor suits were dark! As were the polka-dot dresses, the mushroom-picking sweaters, the suits they wore abroad in 1910, and the skirt & sweater ensemble they wore in many pictures from 1915-16. Their winter coats were often dark as well. I think the number of light-colored dresses we see has more to do with the large amount of photos the IF took during the summer months than with any sort of aversion to dark colors.

True; we think of them so often in white. In the formal photos ( my favourites), they are in white. That's the popular image of innocence and summer. I was refering to the mushroom picking dresses when I mentioned dark dresses, amd that was in Finland, I believe.

aw yes i remeber now

to me every dress they had on was very pretty
as for alexei he wore the same thing every day, he must have been very bored.
even though we did wear diffrent military outfits, and jackets, but they were similar

Well, I think everything they wore was pretty too. I guess I like them better in white, though. Alexei's outfits didn't have that much variety, but that was to be expected.

Hard to tell. If it is Marie, it was when she looks pretty young, but that would be understandable, if it was her.

Yes, it's hard..
But I think the girl's nose is too big to be Marie's, she has a very short nose!  And..I don't know..she just looks like Anastasia to me But I think we need a profesional for this one
