It is a wonderful movie, no doubt, but it does not shed light on the person Rasputin was - yet tries to tell a more correct story than 'Rasputin and the Empress'. Also there were mistakes, as is said they are shown living in the Winter Palace, and some mistakes in years were made too. For instance Stolypin is shown to be assassinated in 1914, but we all know it was 1911 and then there was another one when Alexandra said something about '12 years of torture' which was so wrong, but I can't remember what year that scene played. Also Alexei mentioned Ella's murder, before the Execution of If, which they of course never knew about - though the scene helps to get the drama a bit higher. Also one example is the haunting scene of the 1913 Celebrations where Alexei has a bleeding, of course for the dramatic sense in this movie, which never happened in reality. But the costumes are wonderful and I loved the recreations of National Gowns etc, for the 1913 Celebrations.
Still this is a great movie, though at first I got annoyed with fact Rasputin is portrayed having a short beard - but Rickman's portrayal makes good much.
Agonya, earlier mentioned, is a more correct Portrayal of Rasputin's life but I still don't really like the portrayal of IF on there(but that's to be discussed in other threads)
A funny detail is that the DVD-cover has 'Rasputin' as title but the movie itself is titled 'La Fin de Romanovs' - which means 'The end of the Romanovs'
