She was quite young when she died!
Wonder, what kind of mother in law would she be to Gisela, Maria Teresa and Teresa Maria if she would be alive?
Oh, why her daughter Teresa didn't get married? She was quite good looking!

Princess Therese was in love with Prince Otto, Ludwig II.'s younger brother. She met him regularly and wrote very nice letters to him when he got ill. She suffered a lot, because she couldn't help him.

BTW: I don't think that she was good looking ...

Auguste Ferdinande was a loving mother. Her son Leopold wrote about Auguste and her realtionship to her children in his book "Lebenserinnerungen". So Auguste spent all her time with her children.

Leopold also wrote about the night of her death. She was ill for a longer period of time. It seems that she sufferd from a lung disease.

Auguste Ferdinande's tomb (St. Cajetan in Munich) ...

Luitpold called her "Gusti".

I heard a nice anecdote: When Ludwig, Auguste's eldest son, was born, he was the first grandson of Ludwig I. But after the birth of the other Ludwig (later Ludwig II.), Auguste said to her baby-son: "Oh, poor Ludwig. Now you aren't important anymore."
