Dear Vasili,
First I'm kind of thrown by the spelling, but then again in English it may well be spelled differently, and or has been changed somewhat. I have always seen his name spelled this way, Rachmaninov [sp?] or somewhat similar. Sergei Rachmaninov was indeed a very special and noteworthy global musician !
In the years of the 20's, perhaps a little late, my dad lived here in the United States in a shared home with other emigres, musicians, where Rachmaninoff lived also. Like many of the vast photos that my father had gathered over the years, and of the metropolitan opera stars, and an opera book with their signatures [or any particulars of that of my mother's] and all of both their personal items, my sister denied me access. So the only memory i have is of the knowledge that indeed these pictures were taken, and that I was shown them when my parent's were alive. She [ex sister] may have them, but she can't take vast memories of all of those treasured memories, objects of art, and monies that were my parent's. Unfortunately, some people are more than willful, controlling, selfish, totally greedy. All they see is what they want, regardless of what a shared world, in particular for ALL of any of one's children's direct ability should be able to to have access to. Unfortunately, she has taught her son to be the same
Sorry for my comments, but when treasured items as such, are blatantly stolen, it really makes one feel sad that actions as such continue, and even more not just with strangers, but with family members. It makes your blood run cold, for you realize all too soon, they are not who you thought they were !
Thank goodness for real artists. In the world of art, there
are responsible people who really have full heart, the true character, the total respect of others, who are anything like those who profess they are patron of the arts. Serge Rachmaninov was one of those rare and unforgettable persona's.
I'm so glad that I found this particular thread, to allow me know there is a Museum dedicated to Serge Rachmaninov.
Anyway in the future we might be able to see pictures of the inside of the Museum ?
Thank you very kindly Vasili_Vorontsoff.
