Thanks for the pics and info !

Before the WW II, there are quite a lot of pictures and info about Wooley. However once the war came, she was cut off from the rest of the family. From David Balfour's book on Prince Paul of Yugoslavia. He saw his sister-in-law after the war, and said it was heart-breaking to see that lovely creature come to this.

However we have no photos of her last years unlike her sisters Marina & Olga.

Elisabeth and the count fell in love with each other in the 1930s. I have seen a pic of her at her Sister Marina's wedding, with an Elisabeth (with child) and her husband... have you seen that one Eric Lowe? Because you’re difficult to please.

No I haven't and would love to see it. I only saw Olga, Paul with Prince & Princesses Nicholas of Greece in the lineup.

The Toerrings were not royal, but they are quite rich. The count was quite good looking and they made a spendid couple.

Well, the Toerring-Jettenbachs are very rich - and the title is a mediatized count - so not merely a count.

The Toerring-Jettenbach family are a Mediatized Family from the Second Section of the Almanach de Gotha...not royal per se, but almost royal in fact.  They were a family that First Section families could marry into without incurring into marriage inequality.

Karl Theodor, Toto, was not only the Head of House, but  also the son of a Bavarian princess and hence a nephew of Queen Elisabeth of the Belgians, Princess Rupprecht of Bavaria and the Duchess of Urach.  His mother was a niece of Empress Elisabeth of Austria, Queen Marie of the Two Sicilies, the Hereditary Princess of Thurn und Taxis and the Duchess d'Alencon, among others.

Toto Toerring was a first cousin of King Leopold III of the Belgians, the Duke or Urach and of Duke Albrecht of Bavaria (Head of House) and this is only through the Bavarian side of the family.  If one looks at the Braganza connection the list ofhis relations is simply impressive!

I guess in terms of linerage, quite similar to the Thurn & Taxis who married quite nicely up the ladder. Although even they had difficulty when King Max II of Bavaria put his foot down and threaten to forbid Helene (Sisi's sister) to marry into that family due to inequal status.

Max may have or not thrown a fit about this marriage, but legally they were quite fine to marry into.  Mediatized families could marry First Section families since the Congress of Vienna deemed it allowable and granted them equality

That I know for sure Sisi did interverne in this case for her sister to marry, she had a bad consicience stealing her sister's beau (Franz Josef). She did it again for her youngest brother Max Emmanuel who married Amalie of Coburg.

And why would the Empress Elisabeth have to intercede for the King of Bavaria to allow her brother to marry someone like Princess Amalie of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (Kohary line)?  A bride with excelent background and one of the most prestigious alliances the Bavarian ducal line ever entered into??

Count Hans Veit Törring-Jettenbach, one of the nicest Gotha members I am honored to know well and remain in frequent contact with, is in charge of his family's important businesses.  Their brewery for example is quite respected.  His palatial seat at Schloß Winhoering is simply beautiful and a great place to visit.

His eldest son and heir, Hereditary Count Ignaz, an extremely personable young man works in banking.  He married two years ago an Italian heiress.

As for Empress Sisi interverntion on the Max Emmanuel and Amalie Coburg marriage. No this time her interverntion took another form. Amalie Coburg was affianced to Prince Leopld of Bavaria. When sisi heard about this she arranged for Leopold to come to Vienna and promptly offer her own daughter Gisela to him. Once Leopold broke the engagement with Amalie and took Gisela, the field became clear for Max Emmanuel. He utilimately got his wish and won Amalie's hand in the end.
