Both Paul and Serge were handsome as young men too !

Yes, they were. Sergei was elegantly handsome in a way some might not like, but which in person( not old photos) might have been quite nice. Grand Duke Paul had more coventional looks, although I haven't really seen that many photos of him in youth.
