Aloha from Kaua'i!

I was lucky enough to find Volumes 2 and 3 of these books in Paris last month at the English bookstore "Galignani" on Rue de Rivoli - I paid 51 euros each - they only had 4 volumes when I was there - now I wish I'd purchased them all - they
are very heavy so I mailed them back to the U.S. (so add another 41 euros for that) - still, a very good price for these rare books!

The photographs are amazing!  They are now one of my treasures!

Do these books feature the families' coats of arms?
If yes, then you can put those super-expensive books to some use by helping out in in this thread. :-)

Does someone knows more about this book of Ferrand?

FERRAND (Jacques).  Aperçu généalogique sur quelques descendances naturelles de grands-ducs de Russie au XIXe siècle. Préface de S. A. le Prince Nicolas Romanoff.

I dont think "cheap"is available anylonger.
I totaly understand that ,its the hardest vol to get with Index general
and Les Nabokov, Romanoff-Un album de famille and Complement

i have Romanoff: Un album de famille - Complement
and, as it turns out, i've been looking around in an attempt to
see what it's selling for, these days.

(actually, for a while now, i've been mulling-over the idea of selling(/auctioning/whatever) some, or maybe even all, of my books...)

Re a quote from your Reply # 112:   " (actually, for a while now, I've been mulling-over the idea of selling/auctioning/whatever) some, or maybe even all, of my books..." ).  I can sincerely relate with your stance, "brnbg aka: liljones 1968."  For a number of years, even though I did it in a reasonably selective fashion, it seemed that I was buying books "by the yard/meter."  I have "weeded" out a number by gifting friends, local libaries, universities, Goodwill Industries, etc.  These are not novels, historical fiction, etc., rather well-known volumes in diverse fields, but no longer interested me, were outdated, or whatever. As for local outright selling, checking with a local (used) bookstore, which generally has a large/professional inventory (with internet connections), I found they had recently looked-through over 600+ books submitted to them and actually purchased less than 150; paid prices being VERY poor. On another historical board, a youngster from the Phillipines was literally pleading for a certain book (Fields' jewel volume), but could not afford it.  I happened to have an unused copy, so, after securing his parents' permission, I sent it to him. The postage was outrageous! However, I DID receive his and his family's thanks, thus it was worth it.
All-in-all, I intend to continue to whittle-down (keeping obvious pricey, rare ones) my collection, by donation, or if necessary, simply discard. I have no interest in swapping, listing, etc.  IMO, after a while, they have become a mill-stone of burden in terms of space, dusting, treatment of leather bindings, etc.  There are too many sources, local libraries, internet, etc. that FOR ME, can substitute adequately.  Good luck on your decision!  Happy Holidays!  AP.

After taking about three years to accumulate all six volumes of Noblesse Russe: Portraits, I decided that I want to sell them.

I was told that all six volumes are worth about twice what I originally paid for them.  I contacted the book finder who originally found four of the six for me and asked him to sell the set and told him what I wanted to net out of the process.

He told me that he would be happy to help, but I have not heard from him since.  I don't know if he has not been able to find a buyer or if no one in interested in buying them for the price that the books are now worth.

I agree with AP that the care of these books has become a burden that outweighs the joy of owning them.

As someone else said, "cheap" is not a word that can be used when talking about Jacques Ferrand's books.

Dear members,

Those who have a copy or know a copy of Romanoff Un Album de Famille, 1989, by Jacques Ferrand, and they wanna sell this copy, I'm still in search for the 1989 volume of this book.
I offer a fair price.

Teddy

Aloha all!

I purchased my 2 volumes of Noblesse Russe by Jacques Ferrand last year in Paris - I considered myself very lucky indeed to have found them!

I am going back again this fall and I'm hoping to find additional volumes possibly as well - keeping fingers crossed!

They are wonderful books and I enjoy them tremendously.
