So do you think it's worth it?  They are rather pricey books these days.

Pricey, definitely, without a doubt!  But I do think its worth it, the books are great and the pictures are fantastic!

For those who are really interested. By luck I have found, both volumes of "Romanoff Un Album de Famille", by Jacques Ferrand. So I have the 1989 and the 1990 book. We all know how difficult it is to find even one copy. Because I have already my own copies, I offer these ones for sale. So PM if you are interested.

Jacques Ferrand, a close friend of mine whose death was a terrible tragedy, poured his heart and soul into his books. They were a passion for him. Jacques worked full time and found the time to publish these books on the side.

They are worth every penny!

I have to agree, Ferrand's book are worth every penny. They are perhaps the most beautifully illustrated books out there.

I know some time ago, there had been discussion about reprinting some of Mr. Ferrand's titles. Has there been any update on this?

I want to mention that I have all six volume of Noblesse Russe and I have decided to sell them. I want to keep them as a set and would sell them that way first.

PM me if you are interested.

Or I asked this question in public or in private, but the collection of the photos used for his books are now scattered around the world and are owned by different persons/organisations. And ofcourse Madame Ferrand, the widow of Mr. Ferrand must give first her permission.

Aloha from Kaua'i!

I've been fortunate enough to go to Paris in the last two years - and have purchased 2 or three of the Jacques Ferrand books each time (I ship them back since they are so heavy!).

I am going back this September (hooray!) and I certainly will attempt to purchase more for my collection.

The money that I've spent on these books is very well spent, they are excellent and "jewels" in my Romanov books collection.

I'm not much of a one for spending large amounts on one book, but in the case of the Jacques Ferrand books - I definitely make an exception!

True. I had not thought of it. I had been only under the impression that Madame Ferrand would have to give permission for the reprinting. Thank you Teddy.

Aloha!

I went to Librarie Galignani in Paris a couple of weeks ago - where I have previously found all my Jacques Ferrand books - but unfortunately this time, they only had a very few volumes (3 I think) - and I already had all of those.

I was disappointed, but still came away with a couple books on Royalty (Six Years in the Russian Court and a biography on Ludwig II).....they have such a huge supply of royalty books!

Maybe next time I go (hopefully soon?) - they will have more Jacques Ferrand books for me to complete my collection!

I am still offering my set of all six Noblesse Russe - Portraits for sale. I still would like to keep them together as a set as selling them individually will most likely leave me with a few volumes that I will never be able to sell as the are the most recent and easier to find.

Please PM me if you are interested.

Are Noblesse Russe Portraits hardback/paperback? What exactly is the content, only pictures? And most of the books were published in the 80's correct? I've had my eye on these books for several years now and am seriously thinking about buying them, I just want to make sure I do as much research as possible.

These books are large, heavy stock, paper back books.  Publication did begin in the 1980s, but M. Ferrand did a great job with a lot of research.

There are some editions on line a out of print bookstores but Volume #1 can sell for as much as $1000 by itself.

There are numerous pictures of the Russian Noble Families from all branches.

I will post a pic of all six when I get home later today.  All together the six volumes weigh in excess of 25 lbs.

thanks Alix, the only reason I was asking about the publication dates was because I found some of the books online but the publication date didn't match the ones given here (in the list of his books that someone provided).
