I have a scoop for the Alexander Palace Time Machine Forum.

Here in Italy there are rumors about a debut of Emanuele Filiberto Di Savoia as SINGER...after his victory in Ballando con le stelle / Dancing with the stars, according to some reliable sources, he will partecipate in the most important musical event of Italy, the Festival of Sanremo.

Prince Emanuelle will participate in the San Remo Song Festival next month and he wrote his own text;" Italia amore mio" (My beloved Italy).
He has singing lessons in Paris at the moment.Maybe he gets lucky and wins this contest also.

He might even " get luckyer" NOT ::),and sing a duet with Silvio,... :-[

I think Emanuelle stands a chance to win in this contest, the oldest in Europe and predecessor of the once worthwhile
European Song Contest.San Remo is famous and has seen many a star at the beginning of their carier like Eros Ramazotti and Andrea Bocelli.

Oh,good.I would recomment him. He's a gutsy young Royal and doesn't really care what pompous people of yesteryear think about him.
His House won't be back on the Throne,he's free to do as he pleases, and, very clever, wins the hearts of the Italians along the process.
Bravo ragazzo! ;D

After having shown he's fine dancing capabilites during the TV show "Ballando con le stelle" (Dancing with the stars) last year, this year Prince Emanuele Filiberto decided to take part to the "Festival di Sanremo", the most important Italian music competition.
Tonight (a few hours ago, in Italy) he singed his song - which deals with patriotism - named "Italia amore mio" (Italy my love) live on "Rai Uno" (the main TV channel of the Italian state owned network), but unfortunately he's already been excluded by people jury in the first voting as he didn't manage to score a place in the top 12.

I'm sorry to say I'm ashamed as Italian because of the boos and jeers he got by audience in the theatre (not by everyone but by some people), both before and after Emanuele Filibeto's performance. It has never happened in "Festival di Sanremo" history (that is since 1951) that audience acted like that, it's outrageous.

I must say, though, that republican/communist propaganda worked hard last days to discredit Prince's presence at "Festival di Sanremo", saying that he would have been ridiculous, that he surely couldn't sing and that simply he shouldn't have been allowed to compete. Just because he's a member of House of Savoy, I dare say.

However, if some of you are interested in it, here's the clip of Emenuele Filiberto's perfomance:

I'm Italian too, and you're English it's much better than mine...Bravo! :- )

I watched the Festival, and the exclusion of "Italia amore mio" shocked me, and a lot!!, in my opinion it was the most beautiful and touching song of the festival, it's a SHAME that the jury excluded it in the first voting!!!

Now we can only hope that it will be readmitted on Thursday with the re-fishing of some excluded songs...but actually, I doubt that it will happen. :- (

"Italia amore mio" (written by di Savoia - Ghinazzi; singed by Pupo, Emanuele Filiberto, Luca Canonici)

Io credo sempre nel futuro
nella giustizia e nel lavoro
nel sentimento che ci unisce
intorno alla nostra famiglia

Io credo nelle tradizioni
di un popolo che non si arrende
e soffro le preoccupazioni
di chi possiede poco o niente

Io credo nella mia cultura
e nella mia religione
per questo io non ho paura
di esprimere la mia opinione

Io sento battere più forte
il cuore di un'Italia sola
che oggi più serenamente
si specchia in tutta la sua storia

Sì, stasera sono qui
per dire al mondo e a Dio
Italia amore mio
Io, io non mi stancherò
di dire al mondo e a Dio
Italia amore mio

Ricordo quando ero bambino
viaggiavo con la fantasia
chiudevo gli occhi e immaginavo
di stringerla fra le mie braccia

Tu non potevi ritornare
pur non avendo fatto niente
ma mai ti sei paragonato
a chi ha sofferto veramente

Sì, stasera sono qui
per dire al mondo e a Dio
Italia amore mio
Io, io non mi stancherò
di dire al mondo e a Dio
Italia amore mio

Io credo ancora nel rispetto
nell'onestà di un ideale
nel sogno chiuso in un cassetto
e in un Paese più normale

Sì, stasera sono qui
per dire al mondo e a Dio
Italia amore mio

Actually, I think Prince's song is not so good...I mean, it has some fine lines, but Emanuele Filiberto isn't a lyricist at all, and the arrangement is low-quality (except for the refrain singed by the tenor Luca Canonici). I expected it would have been excluded, I'm only outraged because the unjustified audience's behaviour; Antonella Clerici (Festival's anchorwoman) should have reproached them, but she did nothing.
I'm not a fan of Emanuele Filiberto's, but nobody deserves to be trated like that. He showed a lot of dignity ignoring all those boos and jeers.

It's a bit strange, though...As he won the TV dancing competition "Ballando con le stelle" (Dancing with the stars) in 2009, I thought people liked him in spite of the republican propaganda...It seems I was mistaking.

Thanks! You're very kind, but I know I usually commit many grammatical errors, while your English seems rather good to me; better than mine, at least. ^_^

Yes, I have also thought that his victory in "Ballando con le stelle" was a proof that people liked him after all, but what happened yesterday at the festival left me somewhat perplexed...

I have also expected that he couldn't have much success, but I would never have imagined that he would be excluded so quickly.

Here are the English lyrics of Emanuele Filiberto's song; I did my best to translate them from Italian.

Italy my love (written by Di Savoia - Ghinazzi; singed by Pupo, Emanuele Filiberto, Luca Canonici)

I always believe in future
in justice and in work
in the feeling that makes we gather
around our family

I believe in the traditions
of a people who never surrender
and I bleed for the troubles
of who owns next to nothing

I believe in my civilization
and in my religion
that's why I'm not afraid
to express my own opinion

I feel beating harder
the heart of a single Italy
who look more serenely
at its whole History

Yes, tonight I'm here
saying to the world and to God
Italy my love
I, I'll never stop
saying to the world and to God
Italy my love

I remember when I was a child
I let my imagination run wild
I closed my eyes and I imagined
to hold it in my arms

You weren't allowed to come back
even if you hadn't committed anything
but you never compared yourself
with who has really suffered

Yes, tonight I'm here
saying to the world and to God
Italy my love
I, I'll never stop
saying to the world and to God
Italy my love

I still believe in respect
and in the rightness of an ideal
in a secret dream
and in a more normal Country

Yes, tonight I'm here
saying to the world and to God
Italy my love

Tonight, surprisingly, Italian people fished out Emanuele Filiberto among other five artists by televoting. So Prince's song, Italia amore mio, will newly allowed to take part to the final competition on Saturday night.

Unfortunately, as soon as the anchorwoman Antonella Clerici readed the result of the televote, audience in the theatre showed its disagreement and its discontent by strongly booing and jeering; it's clear audience in theatre wanted a different artist to be fished out by televoters.

However I don't think Emanuele Filiberto really deserved to be fished out tonight; his song wasn't better than other artists' songs...Probably he got a lot of simpaty votes, I don't know. May be I was wrong, may be Italian people really like him...
