I know this woman wrote a book...Could you tell me something more about her,her relations with the highest society, maybe her picture etc.I only heard about her in Kaiser Wilhelm's biography where he paid her or her family a visit during his traveling through the country!

Eleonora (Nora) Prinzessin zu Hohenlohe-Bartenstein und Hohenlohe-Jagstberg was born on October 4th 1864 in Bartenstein and died on March 1st 1945 in Vienna. She was the third child of Fürst Karl zu Hohenlohen-Bartenstein und Jagstberg (1837-1877) and his wife Leopoldine (called "Rosa") Gräfin Sternberg (1836-1918). She had two elder siblings: Marie (1861-1933) and Johannes (1863-1921) who married Anna Maria Theresia Archduchess of Austria, a daughter of Ferdinand IV. of Tuscany and sister of Louise Crwonprincess of Saxony, in 1901.

Eleonora married Karl, Fürst Fugger von Babenhausen (1861-1925) on January 8th 1887 in Vienna.

Their children:
- Friederike (1887-1949), m. Adrian Carton de Wiart (1880-1959)
- Georg (1889-1934), m. Elisabeth Gräfin Plessen (1891-1976)
- Sylvia (1892-1949), m. (divorce 1928) Friedrich Graf zu Münster (1891-1942)
- Leopold (1893-1966), m. (divorce 1936) Vera Gräfin Czernin (1904-1959)
- Maria Theresia (1899-1994), m. Heinrich Fürst von Hanau (1900-1971)
- Helene (1908-1915)

Princess Nora is mentioned in the marvellous memoirs of Countess Cecilia von Sternberg "The Journey" 1977.The Countess may have been a distant relation after her marriage to Leopold von Sternberg. However she mentions Nora as a friend of her maternal grandmother Countess (Alice)Hoyos who lived in Vienna.

Rosa von Hohenlohe, Nora's mother, was born as a Gräfin von Sternberg. Nora's maternal grandparents were Eleonore and Jaroslav Sternberg. It's a pity, but I've never seen a family tree of the Sternbergs. (Before her marriage, Sophie d'Alencon had a lady-in-waiting called "Nathalie Sternberg".)

Dear Marc,

I actually have this book (Im Glanz der Kaiserzeit) written by Nora Fugger, but - to be honest - I have never read it.  ;)
As far as I know she wrote about little scandals in the Imperial Family of Austria. Nora loved gossip and it was her biggest wish to be part of the Austrian high society. She had contact to some Archdukes, for example Ludwig Victor, Franz Ferdinand and his brother Otto.

Nora lived in a castle called Babenhausen. The picture showing Nora and her family horse-riding was taken there. She must have had a house or palais in Vienna, too, because of her knowledge about everything what was going on there.

Well,I think that she was part of Austria's high society by birth(born Prinzessin) and by marriage(she was Fürstin),so she had all the prerogatives to be that...but,you never know what is on someone's mind,I mean maybe she wanted more :) !Marie Charlotte,do you know by chance is there any book about her in English?

A little similar to Sophie von Chotek...but just in the first picture...those pictures are new to me-thnx to Rani...

If Marie-Charlotte can find some of her pictures also it would be great :-)

Btw,grandmother of Nora's husband-Prince Karl Fugger von Babenhausen was also a Hohenlohe-Bartenstein-Jagtsberg Princess,so family ties could have played the role in this match...does she say anything about this in her memoirs?
