I am not at all keen on side whiskers, so I think Franz Josef was at his best as a young man with a moustache.

Sure this pic is from 1873?
Thedate on the  signature looks like 04.09.15 so it could b draw in 1915?

But I´m not sure about the date :S

I would like to know the author of the portrait of young Emperor. Somewhere I read, that the author is Winterhalter, but I have doubts. Can anybody help with identification?

Yes, it's a Winterhalter. I found it here up for auction: http://www.hampel-auctions.com/de/archive-artists/w/1249.html
The text says that his brother used to make repliques of the original paintings.
