That was taken their last meeting. They both wear German uniforms to attend the wedding of the Kaiser's only daughter Victoria Louise in 1913.

That photo was actually used as a Final Jeopardy question once. It was something like 'these royal cousins were often mistaken for each other'. NO ONE got it right--I think one guess was Franz Josef and Kaiser Wilhelm.

Wow, just think, we would have gotten it right..... ;D I find it amusing that people thought they were Franz Josef and Kaiser Wilhelm, considering that they don't look a thing like them in my opinion.

Not to mention Franz Josef was something like 28 years older than Wilhelm ;)

I can't imagine them being more than polite to each other for some reason. George and Nicholas, being cousins, had a friendship that I just don't think could have been displayed between these two women. They seem too different from each other to act other than with necessary politeness.

Does anyone know if the late Queen Mother had met the IF and what were her impressions and also, if pics are available.
Thanks,

neva

I believe MF was at the Queen Mother's wedding. I haven't ever seen a good photo of it and sometimes get Princess Mary's confused.

GDss Xenia was at GV's Jubilee on the balcony so she and the Queen Mother definitely met. I think the QM was interviewed for the biography on Xenia.

The Queen Mother must have met a long list of long dead Imperials and Royals over her long life. Are there any anecdotes of such meetings, with the likes of Marie of Romania for instance.
I also wondered if a wedding picture of the QM exists featuring Queen Alexandra?

I know that the Czar & Czarina never met the Queen Mother, as she would have been 9 in 1909, when Nicholas, Alexandra & the children came to Enlgand, unless, her family was present for the visit. Wasn't her father a member of the gov't, so could have the Queen Mother's father met Nicholas & Alexandra?
