Perhaps the Queen Mother channeled the Tsarina. The attitude she struck concerning the Duchess of Windsor certainly smacks of Alexandra's feelings regarding Natalie Brassova and Victoria Melita.

I have a photo of QM the day of her wedding, in the balcony of BPalace.... With her, Queen Mary, King George, Queen Alexandra and her sister Dagmar.

I´ll try to post it, but my scanner it´s so bad¡

I've never seen OTMA with their cousin Victoria Luise of Prussia. What were their relation with the Kaiser's Wilhelm II daughter and does exist any photo of them together ?

It's my understanding that the Imperial Family (including OTMAA) did not care at all for the Kaiser. Judging from the photos I've seen, they seem to have met only on official occasions.

If Nicholas and Alexandra had kept up his parents's tradition of visiting Denmark and Greece, they probably would've run across him (and his children) more often. Much to the dismay (and occasional amusement) of the Greek/Russian/Danish royals, the Kaiser enjoyed their company and often invited himself to various gatherings and trips.

There would've been a chance at VL's wedding in 1913, but Nicholas attended alone. I've wondered why Olga and/or Tatiana didn't accompany him in place of Alexandra. Considering the girls were of marriageable age and this was a major event--not to mention the fact that the groom (Ernst August) was his first cousin and thus many of his relatives would be there--it would've seemed a good place to launch the girls in international royal society.

Probably any favorite cousin came from either the Russian side, like Irina or Dmitri, the Greeks or Hesse/Battenbergs. I know they corresponded with Louise Battenberg fairly often. Despite the closeness of NII & GV, the fact that Alexandra was very close to QV and the rumors of either Olga or Tatiana marrying David, there doesn't seem to be a special relationship with their British cousins.

I think Zita is asking which girls are there...I don't know, I can't tell because of the light.

From the heights, I would say Olga is on the left, Anastasia is standing behind her, so that we can't really see her and Maria on the right with Tatiana behind her  ???

Well, they had alot of foriegn relatives.

The five children (David, Bertie, Mary, Henry, George & John) of George V and Queen Mary were their second cousins.

The children of George I of Greece and Olga Konstantinovna were first cousins to Nicholas II.

The children of George I's son Nicholas (Olga, Elizabeth and Marina) were OTMAA's second cousins (in fact OEM were DOUBLE second cousins to OTMAA specifically) as well as the children of George I's other children..lol.

The children of Empress Victoria of Germany were first cousins to Alexandra.

George V and Empress Alexandra were also first cousins through his father Edward VII and her mother Princess Alice.

I don't want to name any more of their cousins...it'd take up this entire board I'm sure...lol :)
