Hello,

My goodness, such blatant negativity about a book focusing only on personalities and not politics or war…

Hello,

My goodness, such blatant negativity about a book focusing only on personalities and not politics or war...
But this "family friendly reactionism" was at the heart of Christian IX's rather limited personality. It's what makes him fascinating.

Берёзы севера мне милы,—
Их грустный, опущённый вид,
Как речь безмолвная могилы,
Горячку сердца холодит.

(Афанасий Фет: «Ивы и берёзы», 1843 / 1856)

A better use of a publisher's limited ressources would be to translate Tor Bomann-Larsen's masterly multivolume biography of Christian IX's grandchildren Carl / Haakon VII and Maud from Norwegian to English. Most members of the Glücksborg clan figure prominently in it.

Hi,

The Organizing Committe of the RD Weekend at Ticehurst has asked me to state that the new book "Apapa" was launched by the authors and book seller only;  and not with the sponsorship or accord or backing of the Committee...

Therefore my part of the statement "at the RD Weekend at Ticehurst, England" may be misleading...
I hope this clears up any misunderstanding(s) about this book.
