It says it was shot in 1908 in Belguim

Thanks. It's strange, it looks like they are sitting on the sand, but the background doesn't look like a beach...  ??? It just looks weird.

In fact IS a beach, but the sea is in the opposite place Mathilde and Vova are sitting in. It must be Ostende, one of the most famous Belgium beachs. The city is immediately after the beach. We have a beach like this one in my country, Argentina. It's name is Mar del Plata. If you takes a pic from the sea, looking at the city, the photo will appear qite similar than the one you may see Michael, Mathilde and Vova...You'll see the sand and then, the city buildings.

This one, I couldn't believe was Matilde but after looking at the legs I must admit, I think it is her after all.

Hey I read on Wikipedia that towards the end of her life Mathilda K met Anna Anderson out of curiosity. Any truth in this? Does anyone have any info about this? CHeers.

Sorry I never heard about it, but it make me answer: I don't think Matilda had any kind of relationship with the imperial children? I mean that would have drive Alix crazy! May be she saw them when she was dancing and they come to the show? does Alix allow this?

Mathilde did see his children but from a distance.

On 02/09/1914 Nicholas, Empress Marie and three of his daughters, Olga, Maria and Anastasia attended the 25th anniversary of Nicolai Legat's entery into the Imperial theatres. For this performance, Esmeralda was performed by Mathilde who performed extra hard giving it her all since she knew the Tsar, along with some of his family would be there. I highly doubt she would have been allowed to interact directly with them given her 'reputation'.

I think you made a typo there honey

I agree that Mathilde would not have been allowed to interact with OTMA. But why would she have an interest in meeting Anna Anderson? Probably just out of curiosity, but I even doubt it's true given I read it on wikipedia.

No typo.

Nicholas went with his mother, Empress Marie and three of his daughters, Olga, Marie and Anstastasia.  It was said that Mathilde gave a more powerful performance because Nicholas was there. (Imperial Dancer by Coyne Hall pg. 152)
