this didnt seem to fit anywhere else and I didnt see any postings about it.

There is suppose to be a winery in the Ukraine, in the area of the Crimean Sea, that still sells bottles of wine with a label that states "property of his majesty Tsar Nicholas II of Imperial Russia"  Or something very close to that.  I dont have one of the bottles in front of me.  I buy them occasionally for my mom

Does anyone know if this winery still belongs to one of the Romanov family members and that is why the labels are printed that way?

Thanks, Suzanne

It is called Massandra, in Yalta. Go to the Crimean Palaces threads it is discussed there. There are still some very very old bottles left in the cellar from the time when it was Nicholas' personal property, he inherited Massandra from his father.

Your mother must be quite special, as the 100 year old bottles still bearing the labels from the Imperial Cellar are VERY expensive, usually on the order of $2,000 USD each or more.

Unfortunately no I cant afford those.  I only buy the new ones.  That is the name though, thank you Massandra.  We have a local market with international flavors.  It includes an Eastern European market of its own and wines/beer from all over Eastern Europe, including recent bottles of Massandra
