Hi Vassili,

Thx for your reply.

No i am not french, i come from the Netherlands.

If you can tell me more, please. A few weeks ago, I have visited the place, and it is really interessant. Especially the model of the wooden palace, I also bought the nice book about the wooden palace. Only I understood vaguely from some pictures that after Catherine destroyed the wooden palace, a new palace of stone was built in the park of Kolomenskoye (of which only a small pavillion remains???). But as my Russian is not so good, I can just vaguely read the Cyrillean letters, I did not understand if this was true, and if so what happened to this second palace.

Kolomenskoye

After full disassembly of a wooden palace in XVII century on coast of Moscow-river, near to church of Rise gospodnya, the four-storeyed palace in which empress Ekaterina II wrote the well-known legal treatise - "Order" has been constructed. The palace has been ruined during invasion of the Frenchmen. Well Ipflo,

I profit of a free time to answer...Jacqueline who is pearl has send you the essential to know about the building...

To give you a more moderate approach read what Moscow architecture association has published on Tsarityno it will give you an idea of what the restoration would be :as it was done in the 19th century in France with Viollet le Duc ,restiration in the style sometime not always for the more respectuous of the original rests...http://www.maps-moscow.com/index.php?chapter_id=151&data_id=60&do=view_single

I've just remembered for Kolomenskoye that ther is no plan any more of the palace -just a model in wooden -made in the 19th century...http://static.flickr.com/4/5777715_40a4375d07_m.jpg
"Unfortunately, the wooden palace of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich, a unique masterpiece of Russian architecture built in 1667-1668 by carpenter foreman Semen Petrov and serf carpenter Ivan Mikhailov, has not survived. This beautiful palace, considered by its Russian contemporaries to be the “Eight wonder of the world”, consisted of a large number of buildings interconnected by passageways. The entire ensemble must had been very impressive with all its towers, cupolas, Kokoshniks, ogee-shaped roofs, spires, globes, gilded double headed eagles etc. Today the visitors to the museum can form an idea of what the palace looked like from the model skilfully executed by the woodcarver D. Smirnov in 1867."

If you can scan few pages of your marvellous book on the wooden palace...

yes, I will scan some pictures from the book, but please remind me about it if I forget

With regard to the plans I can tell you that the book contains several plans of the palace, made by order of Catherine II when the palace was destroyed, just as several pictures of how the building exactly looked.

If some one has more information about the palace of Alexander I in Kolomenskoye, please.

The reconstruction of the vanished palace will be almost completed for july at the occasion of the celebration of the battle of Poltava, date of birth of Russia as a real powerful country.

The interiors are planned to be completed until 2010, it must be noticed that this new old palace is made on concrete foundations and don't use the original foundations (that were in a so poor shade).

The park is expected to become one of the most attractive part of the capital.
