Good question Penny!
When you write a posting, you will see in the lower row of icons, the 4th icon from the left is a little picture. you click that and get code using img. (I cant write the img in brackets []as the software thinks its real code,) but in between the two codes you put the ENTIRE url address of an uploaded picture [ie: http://www.PennyWilson.com/images/pennyspic.jpg] so it would look like bracket img brackethttp://www.PennyWilson.com/images/pennyspig.jpgbracket /imgbracket.

If people do not have a place to upload a photo to the web, you may email it to us and we can put it on our server and send you the address to use for your post.

GUIDELINES for sending us your pictures
1. .JPG or .GIF formats only please! (for real photographs jpg is the better quality file)
2. Please use only 72 dpi image sizes and keep the image size to about 4"x4" as the images load to the size you make it. Bigger images would exceed the boundaries of your posting page.
3. Keep the total file size down, please. Try to keep them no more than about 100k....large files, like 1meg, would slow things way down. we LOVE files between 40 and say 80k, but even up to the low 100s can work ok.
4. Be a little patient with us....we may not always have time right away to upload the file for you, and even when Im free to do it, the whole process can take me upwards of ten or twenty minutes depending on what you send me.

This is so frustrating! I have downloaded some photos to my Webshots account and they still will not come up on this site. I've clicked on the image link and copied and pasted the link between the img letters, but I get nothing. Please advise!!!

Try to change the [IMG] from upper case to lower case [img]. For some reason if they are in uppers it won't show. You can always hit the preview box to see if your pic shows up before you post it.

Still doesn't work. All that comes up is a white box with a red x through it, where the picture should be.

Open a free acount in the www.photobucket.com.
But, with this site, when you copy and paste the link between the img letters you must always change the [IMG] from upper case to lower case [img]. If you don`t, the image will not show.

Webshots no longer allows direct linking.

The best thing to do is to do (as many of you have) is go to http://www.photobucket.com or http://www.snapfish.com and get a free account to upload the pics you have saved on your computer. Once you have done this, it will give you an addy for posting. Photobucket will put it below the pic, snapfish you will have to right click on the pic, then click properties,  and highlight the url with your mouse. Then copy and paste the url here with the img tags (img in the [] brackets before the url, [/]with img after it) If I post what it's supposed to look like it will show up as a red x.

This way, everyone has their own personal colllection and you don't have to worry about someone else's site going down, or somebody complaining about their bandwidth. If you get too many pics photobucket will cut you off, but a donation as small as 10 bucks a year will give you more room, or just start a second free account.

One more thing- no geocities, angelfire or tripod (other than UK tripod) sites allow direct linking, save yourself the frustration and don't bother, they will only show up as a red x.

We seem to be having a recurring problem in some threads.
Please, everyone, don't put so many pictures into one posting. It makes the pages load very slowly and some images wont open for some people as a result. PLEASE limit your self to three or four pictures maximum per posting, and PLEASE don't "quote" the photos over into responses as that doubles the load time for the pages...

Also, if the photos could be condensed to a smaller size, that would help too!

Here is a thorough walk-through of how to post a picture:

If anyone has any qustions feel free to PM me and I can help clarify  ;D
The images that have black bars under them are thumbnails. So you can click the image for a bigger view.

How to post a picture

A)You need to get a place that will host your images. You can use the more popular Photobucket or Imageshack  ...

B)To take a picture from your computer and upload it. You need to do the following steps:
I'll start with an example from Frozentears.org
First we have the website splash page, we want to save and upload the splash picture. First thing we do is right click on the image and an option will come up and we want the choose "save image..."

Once we click save image you should get a dialog box that looks something like this. In our example I'm going to save it to the desktop.

Once the image is saved all we have to do now is upload it. So.. first thing we do is long into our Photobucket account. After doing so, we can either upload images to an album or just the front page. For this example I'm going to upload the image on the fron page.
So.. once we get to the front page I want to upload the splash image that we saved before hand.

1. Click on the choose button and select your image
Once you have the image selected select "open" and the image address from your computer is then placed into the upload field. Once you reach this point, press submit.

It will then upload your image online, and you can now post it.

C)Now that we have our image uploaded, we can now post it. I would recommend posting thumbnails on the boards. As not everyone has higher speed internet connections. You have the ability to post Thumbnails from both Imageshack and Photobucket.
Here is what you want to copy in Imageshack:

Once you paste that into a message box it should look like this:
Code: [Select]
[url=http://img429.imageshack.us/img429/9987/7sbastopol8jo.jpg][img]http://img429.imageshack.us/img429/9987/7sbastopol8jo.th.jpg[/img][/url]
This is what it looks liked posted:

In Photobucket:

Here is the code you want to put into the message box
Code: [Select]
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v616/Romanov/th_Temp-Flash.jpg
This is what the thumbnail looks like posted:

C.2) Using those img Tags:
Now, we've all heard this crazy talk of "putting the url inbetween the img tags", but we don't understand what that is suppost to mean. What a is a url? And where does one aquire these img tags?
The url of an image is the address of the picture when it's uploaded to the internet. (ie. " http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v616/Romanov/th_Temp-Flash.jpg " is a img url)

What you want to do with that url is stick it between IMG tags to get image tags you press this button:

Once you get the IMG tags in your message box, you just stick the url of you uploaded image in between them.
So it would look like this:
Code: [Select]
http://img429.imageshack.us/img429/9987/7sbastopol8jo.jpg
UNLESS.... you have used a thumbnail code, where the IMG tags already are there. If you are using thumbnail code then you don't have to worry about img tags, because Imageshack, or Photobucket includes them already for you.

If anyone needs some extra help, please PM me.

I have a question- some people manage to post photos using linked words to get to the photo.

Such as: check out this picture here with the here (underlined) being a direct link to the picture when clicked on.  The word/phrase is in blue usually.

How do you do that?

You don't really leave the space between the url and ], I just done it so it would show up right. ;)
