Hello,

I would like to know how do we do to post/insert photos from our own files? I mean files or pictures which come not from the Internet but from our computer?

Thanks, Deva.

Hi!

The way to do it is to get an account at http://www.photobucket.com (or a smiliar site). Then upload the picture from your computer to photobucket. Beneath the picture there'll be a url. Simply paste this between the tabs here on the forum.

Can you give me a little more detail as to what you're asking? Hyperlinks, or linking is when you have text to link something, like Google

What would you like me to explain?

For sure!

For Imageshack.us:
When posting thumbnails in imageshack, you can get some problems. Sometimes the coding on these boards can be nitpicky, so simple copy and pasting the url doesn't always work. The trick to making sure they always work is to have all undercase letters in your coding. By this I mean
Code: [Select]
[URL=http://img429.imageshack.us/img429/9987/7sbastopol8jo.jpg][IMG]http://img429.imageshack.us/img429/9987/7sbastopol8jo.th.jpg[/IMG][/URL]
should look more like:
Code: [Select]
[url=http://img429.imageshack.us/img429/9987/7sbastopol8jo.jpg][img]http://img429.imageshack.us/img429/9987/7sbastopol8jo.th.jpg[/img][/url]

In the above the coding of "IMG" and "URL" are made into "img" and "url".

Now, you may be asking me, "Where do I find the *$!# url for the thumbnails?". Why my darling, it can be found right here:

After uploading an image, you can put this url between two img tags (try to make sure it's in lowercase letters) and volia! A thumbnail!:

Now for Photobucket:

Photobucket is a bit different then Imageshack, since you have an account, you have many more pictures to muddle through, which can cause confusion. To post a thumbnail using a photobucket account you have to do the following:

Here is the code you want to put into the message box (again, trying to keep it lowercase)
Code: [Select]
[img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v616/Romanov/th_Temp-Flash.jpg[/img]
This is what the thumbnail looks like posted:

If there is anything that I left out, or still is confusing, by all means let me know  ;) ;D

Here is a thorough walk-through of how to post a picture:

If anyone has any qustions feel free to PM me and I can help clarify  ;D
The images that have black bars under them are thumbnails. So you can click the image for a bigger view.

How to post a picture

A)You need to get a place that will host your images. You can use the more popular Photobucket or Imageshack  ...

B)To take a picture from your computer and upload it. You need to do the following steps:
I'll start with an example from Frozentears.org
First we have the website splash page, we want to save and upload the splash picture. First thing we do is right click on the image and an option will come up and we want the choose "save image..."

Once we click save image you should get a dialog box that looks something like this. In our example I'm going to save it to the desktop.

Once the image is saved all we have to do now is upload it. So.. first thing we do is long into our Photobucket account. After doing so, we can either upload images to an album or just the front page. For this example I'm going to upload the image on the fron page.
So.. once we get to the front page I want to upload the splash image that we saved before hand.

1. Click on the choose button and select your image
Once you have the image selected select "open" and the image address from your computer is then placed into the upload field. Once you reach this point, press submit.

It will then upload your image online, and you can now post it.

C)Now that we have our image uploaded, we can now post it. I would recommend posting thumbnails on the boards. As not everyone has higher speed internet connections. You have the ability to post Thumbnails from both Imageshack and Photobucket.
Here is what you want to copy in Imageshack:

Once you paste that into a message box it should look like this:
Code: [Select]
[url=http://img429.imageshack.us/img429/9987/7sbastopol8jo.jpg][img]http://img429.imageshack.us/img429/9987/7sbastopol8jo.th.jpg[/img][/url]This is what it looks liked posted:

In Photobucket:

Here is the code you want to put into the message box
Code: [Select]
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v616/Romanov/th_Temp-Flash.jpgThis is what the thumbnail looks like posted:

C.2) Using those img Tags:
Now, we've all heard this crazy talk of "putting the url inbetween the img tags", but we don't understand what that is suppost to mean. What a is a url? And where does one aquire these img tags?
The url of an image is the address of the picture when it's uploaded to the internet. (ie. " http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v616/Romanov/th_Temp-Flash.jpg " is a img url)

What you want to do with that url is stick it between IMG tags to get image tags you press this button:

Once you get the IMG tags in your message box, you just stick the url of you uploaded image in between them.
So it would look like this:
Code: [Select]
http://img429.imageshack.us/img429/9987/7sbastopol8jo.jpgUNLESS.... you have used a thumbnail code, where the IMG tags already are there. If you are using thumbnail code then you don't have to worry about img tags, because Imageshack, or Photobucket includes them already for you.

If anyone needs some extra help, please PM me.

Thanks. To be honest, I probably wouldn't have figure it out. There are a few posts here that were quite helpful also. Looks like I have some printing and learning to do. Thankyou to everyone else as well. I feel like I'm an illiterate or a dummy.  :-/  Oh Boy!!!!; GOD HELP ME!!!!! ;D ;D

Also, if the photos could be condensed to a smaller size, that would help too!

I made that mistake of not resizeing some of the bigger pics and I'm regretting it. The photos that I have done seem so much better. I'm in the process of doing that now. The problem is that I have so many pics and I'm trying to get them uploaded quickly. Maybe I'll post the url instead. It'll save me some time. Anyway, condensing to a smaller size is sound advice. Thankyou.

I hope people can forgive my ignorance on the matter. This is also the first and only forum I've joined. So.... hopefully everyone can just laugh it off as long as I don't keep making stupid mistakes.

jpg or jpeg, png, gif are types of images, img is an html tag, if you want to post pictures just type: [{img]http://the image url here[/img} except use the actual brackets on both sides. If I type the actual code the software will think its a picture...
