I wholeheartedly agree with everyone, Helen's movies are fantastic.  :D
They really 'put you in her shoes'! Thank you Helen for sharing these videos with everyone, as they are awesome!

I wish you could have zoomed in thru the windows on the right side and also into the parade rooms,  are there people watching or would this actually be possible?   At a glance, it looks like we could peek into the parade rooms and see what is left of it.

Which part of the video clip do you mean? If you mean from the back, then you couldn't really get too close because of the barbed wire and weeds. In the front you couldn't really get too close to the windows because they were too high. I wish I could have zoomed in too, but this camera wasn't mine - I had to borrow someone else's digital camera the day before I left Pushkin because mine broke. Mine had a zoom, this one didn't  :(. As you can see from all the videos, I was just trying to get it all really fast because I had to return the camera, this is why all the videos have such jerky quality... I'm walking real fast. But at least I got something! I'm glad you guys are enjoying them, it was well worth it. I like looking at them myself occasionally because it brings back memories of my visit. As nice as it is having photos, nothing beats video. but next time I will do a more professional montage  ;).

Helen,  I was referring to the video in the front at about the one minute mark.  I think one of the parade rooms would be there, it looks like you could peek in the window and see thru to the other side (semi circle)  I may have the plans all confused in my mind?  I didn't even realize there were all those paths around the lake at the front of the palace!  By the way, what are those paths paved with, or are they just dirt ?  Thanks Helen

I began watching Helen's recordings on youtube.com today, and I can't say how grateful I am for having the opportunity to see them.  I think it's fascinating.  I can't help but think how disappointed I would be to be there in person and see the rooms in their present state; I realize that there is a group out there who doesn't think the last Imperial family should be memorialized in the way I think, and I also realize there probably isn't too much hope in seeing the rooms restored to their somewhat cluttered Imperial glory, but all the same, thank you, Helen, for making your visit accessible to a man from a small town in Texas!

Sorry it took me so long to respond to this,  I just saw it! There are all kinds of little paths around the palace, mostly dirt/overgrown weeds, etc, but it seems at some point they may have been paved...

And jfkhaos , you are very welcome!  :)

Маленькое видео, в конце как я понял Чихачёвские ворота около Александровского дворца ...
A small video at the end as I realized Chihachevskie about the Alexander Palace gates ...

I love looking at these videos. Short of going to Russia yourself, it's the next best thing!!!!

Helen's videos really helped to give me perspective for my visit.    If you're going to visit, I recommend watching them.  It was great to see everything for the scope of things.

That is my one regret about visiting St. Petersburg and Pushkin.  My camera has video capabilities and I'm angry that I didn't turn it on, even for a few seconds at a clip.  I have tons of photos, but having a little video in and around the palaces and in the city would've been nice.
