New Online Video - July 17th Service - Feodorovski Sobor
« on: August 14, 2006, 03:18:26 PM »

Here is a new video of a service in the Feodorovski Sobor held in memory of the Imperial Family on July 17th.  It starts outside, goes inside the cathedral and then down to the Saint Serigim of Sarov Crypt.  The crypt was, unfortunately, closed at the time.  If you look inside the church you will see the ikonostasis is being restored.  Ikons in the upper tier are already in place and the silver-encrusted Royal Doors are already mounted.

This video was supplied to us by Virtual Pushkin - THANK YOU Vlad and THANK YOU to whomever filmed this!

Helen's Feodorovski video is coming soon.

Thanks for posting this. I am surprised that they allowed video recording inside the chapel!

I also was unable to access the video both yesterday and today. But I do have a slightly annoying and humorous memory of my visit to the Feodorovsky in July 1997: several of us were in the crypt underneath the main church and asked to see Alexandra's private chapel area. The Russian who was with us at the time we thought was a KGB agent as he followed us around several days--always looking at us out of the corner of his eye. Well he put his hand on the light switch to her chapel and flicked it slowly on and off three times! I don't think he approved of our pilgrimage and so tha's how he made his statement. It was a tiny little space just big enough for her to prostrate herself in it. Really a little creepy.

I would like to see this recording but the link does not seem to work. I am sad that a lot of the pictures do not appear either.  Alan
