No wanting to ruin the film for those that haven't seen it. But I liked the scene after the Queens car breaks down in the ford and she looks up to see that beautiful stag standing by the river in all its glory, very handsome looking!! I wonder if that actually happened!

That's exactly the scene to which I was referring Eddieboy uk.   It was very, very clever - especially given what happened before they left Balmoral for London.   Such a powerful metaphor.   I really don't want to write more for fear of spoiling it for those yet to see the film.

In my opinion the relationship between the Monarch, and the Monarch of the Glen encapsulated the entire story.   I would love to expand on this further, but do not feel it would be fair to do so when so many still have to see the film.

The movie opens here on Firiday.  Today's Washington Post's style section profiles Helen Mirren.

Is there any way you could use spoiler tags (

) so that those of us who don't mind the spoilers could read what your thoughts were? Or maybe they're only in use on other forums?  ???

I thought the film interesting.  Helen Mirren did a superb performance.  Cherie Blair is portrayed as quite a bytch.

The following gave me quite a chuckle.

The Queen to Tony Blair:

“Because you saw those headlines and you thought one day that might happen to me.

And it will Mr. Blair.  Quite suddenly and without warning."     ;)

Good line !  ;D

There was another line I laughed at....very Duke of E.

The Duke to "Cabbage":

"Sleeping in the streets and pulling out their hair for someone they never knew. And they think we're mad??"

The film opened today in my area (Philadelphia) and got great reviews. One thing, and I've seen this before, is referring to the Queen as HRH. Is this just American ignorance, or the correct way to address the Queen. I always the it was HM, and not HRH.

Another set of reviews--People magazine gave it 4 out of 4 stars. I don't think I've read one thing, either online or in magazines/newspapers, that was less than glowing.
