Ella on Ernie's Alleged Homosexuality

Perhaps he did as well; after all, we woudn't have a clue about KR were it not for his diaries. No one suspected. We have more than a few clues about Sergei.. and given Sergei's nature he might have struggled. I think Ella might not have known about it though.

Had she known about it, she would have been understanding (unlike Ducky who fled).

If she did, she would have been more understanding, exactly. She realized more what life is than Ducky, and life is often too complicated for one set of beliefs or one way to explain things. Ella understood that.

Yes, I can see that. The world always needs people like Ella, because most people are often not like that. Ella was understanding and compassionate and not judgemental, and so many people then and now are that way. It's always great to see people who are like Ella was, because face it, the world needs more of them!

Yes...however even Ella had bad days too. The realtionship with Marie P was one that she fequently pushed her Aunt's wrong buttons. Ella, did realised that injustice and apologized to her (after Serge died) later on. Yes...Ella did appeared to have an infirmity with allegedly gay men, it shows how understanding and big hearted she was...

Well, nobody's perfect! I am sure Ella had her bad days. Marie P was hard to get along with, though. Many lesser souls than Ella struggled with her. She was very interesting, but hard to live with.

The situation with Marie P proved that she smetimes slip as well...

It does. I am not sure we should regard anyone as perfect, but Ella surely came much closer than most people. Marie P. was difficult to get along with, and their personalities were different. That isn't a recipe for getting along.

True...Yet it revealed that Ella was human enough to like & dislike. She later apologized to Marie P for her coldness towards her ( probably because Sergei alreadied spoiled them so much that Ella felt a firm hand was perhaps needed).

Well, Ella was human. But she showed in her attitude towards her husband's killer a different approach than many would have ever understood then.

Ella's religion was much stronger !

It was! And with right.. Ella was a wonderful person who took the right approach to things.
