Festetics family, their lives and homes
« on: September 16, 2006, 09:10:11 AM »
I want to start a new topic about the beautiful Keszthely Castle (in Hungary, near the Lake Balaton) home of the Festetics Family.
Do you have pics, informations, and the floor plans of the Castle?

I found this portrait with description:''Countess Nabo de Nagy Stz.Miklos, born Festetics'' but don't know who she was(her name, when was she born, whe she died etc.) and also don't know if she had any connection with Marie Festetics or Empress Sissi...Any help who she was?

I think she must be Terézia Festetics, Countess Sándor Nákó de Nagyszentmiklós (1787-1873). She's the only Nákó countess in the period and the hairstyle suggets the 1840s, so this identification looks OK.
She was daughter of Ignác Festetics (1761-1826), who was son of Károly Festetics (1733-1771). Károly's older brother was Pál Festetics (1725-1782), whose grandson, Sándor Festetics (1805-1877) was Marie's father.

Beautifull Marc.

The Counts Festetics de Tolna are incorperated in the Dutch nobility since 1973

I believe the man portrayed in the second picture to be Count Dénez Festetics, elevated to the title Count in Hungary,1857.
Picture nr. 4 is Count Tassilo Festetics,he was elevated to the rank of Fürst/Prince in 1911.
I should know but forgot the name of the Cardinal.

Thank you Lucien...didn't know that there was a link between Dutch nobility and Festetics von Tolna family...Have they intermarried with some prominent family from the Netherlands or...?
