Just curious,  I was looking through the inventory of the IF's belongings found at the Ipatiev house and found on red guards after the deaths of the IF and the servants.

The person who was going through the survey of objects and items said there was a pair of cream court shoes with only "M" embossed or written on one of the shoes.

Wondering did clothing belonging to the IF had their initals sewen or embossed on their clothes and shoes?   I know that the formal Russian court dresses of Tatiana and Olga had their initals embroadied near the back of their clothing to distingush who owned which dress.

As I understand it [forgot where I read this] ALL clothing, including underwear were labled one way or the other. They were also laundered separately from anyone else's. When the soldiers were looting the clothing, after the executions, one was said brag that he had Nichola's underwear. Better than he ever had before, no doubt. Wives  girlfriends  received  the women's  clothing, including underwear, bras [not sure ifthey actually wanted corsets though].

Thanks for that Robert,  I know I read that in the list of the inventory were handkerchiefs with the monograms cut out and pillow slips with Alix's initals embroadied. 

So most likely the court shoes would have belonged to Maria, as for the corsets etc, a lot of the women's corsets and bodices were accounted some most likely OTMA's were found in groups of four, while others were like 3 the same or two the same or only one etc.  It is an interesting and sad inventory.

Especially with small child's cap, metal buckles and jacket buttons.

Hi everyone! I've seen quite a few photos of OTMA and Nicholas wearing Keds! I think it was on a tennis outing somewhere, but I don't know where. Anyway, there's a bunch of these photos around so if anyone has them it would be great if you could post them here!

They're certainly tennis shoes, but the Keds brand wasn't available until 1916. ;^)

Right! :/ I knew that! But you're right, I think those photos were taken long before 1916, even though they were alive. Well, even though they're white tennis shoes, they're still cute I just adore the shoes Nastya has on in this photo, even though they're not tennis shoes!
