Yeah this picture was taken in November of 1910 when the family had visit Germany and Alix's family Hesse. But this one was taken in Germany in a year before in 1909. But there was another picture that was taken in November of 1910 when both the romnov and hesse families was in together

Its a well known photo, I think, but it has not been posted in this thread before, just had a look through! Its a lovely photo! I wonder if they are looking at photos that we are seeing today?

Yes, they are!  lol.  While I'm happy that there is such a wealth of photos of the GD's growing up there is a dearth of all four of them as young adults.

Always loved that photo! It has to go with the LP  making faces one( where Marie pushed  up AN's bangs ) ...love that one as well .  And wouldn't I love to see the photos they are looking at?

Me too was sure this pic &the one of them making faces where taken one after the other. Maybe this one first, then they realized the camera wss there and had some fun!
I love this photo too; there's something magical about that.
I really woder who took the photo; usually it was Maria the Imperial photographer for private shootings (LOL) and i'd like to know who did these.

Perhaps so! It seems like it! I wonder who took the photos too? Maybe one of the big pair? A lady in waiting? Anna? So many possibilities....

I wonder  if it was Alix herself? The posted photo seems like a charming pose and Alix  would pose the girls sometimes for photos ...like Marie sitting on the balconry. It's like  the faces photo from this time  was a reward for sitting still! lol

Putting on a play

If I remember right, the play is a French play called Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme that they are acting out. I love Anastasia's expression and pose in this picture, so funny!

I just adore that one! Thanks! In other prints, AN's dress had stripes . I have wondered who is the lady in the doorway behind them? This might have been taken before the performance, just after they were costumed.  According to Gillard because of Anastasia's gift for mimicry, her French accent was excellent . They are both adorable here.
