тяв-тяв,

Kudos to Tatiana Z for uploading all of the newsreel footage!  BlessOTMA commented on this one a year ago "frame for frame, the best collection of Romanov footage I have seen" and it is defintely a video to see multiple times.

One thing that struck my funnybone was Maria in Romania baring her teeth at the cameraman - I can almost hear it now "Maria! Maria! Maria! Maria! Maria! Maria!" - "GRRRRRR!!!"

I do like your video about Dimitri. It was interesting to see the pictures of him riding. In particular, it would seem that he used the forward seat when jumping. Before WW1 this was very modern and quite controversial, as the forward seat had only recently been developed by an Italian named Federico Caprilli (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caprilli), and then taken up by the Italian cavalry. One of Dimitri's friends was Colonel Paul Rodzianko (nephew of the President of the Duma), who was one of the leading riders of his day, and the first Russian to train with the Italians at their cavalry school.

Regards

Ann
