Sophie (Martina Gedeck) and Ludovika (Licia Maglietta)

Maglietta is older than Gedeck, but in this movie Maglietta plays the younger sister?!
(Licia is more pretty!)

I hope it will have the same quality "The Crown Prince" has. That series is amazing, it has the best portrayal of Rudolf and the events surrounding his life. It has some dramatic inventions but other than that i've never seen a better movie. I hope this series on Sisi will be a correct one, with not too much romantic inventions - even though I fear it won't, since the actors do not resemble the characters at all.

Charlotte (Frederica de Cola) and the dead Maximilian (Xaver Hutter).

It´s a pity, that the real Maximilian looked awful, when he was dead. Poor Charlotte and Sophie were horrified.
Maximilian wanted to be embalm in Austria, but the embalming was in Mexico, and they did it terrible.

No, indeed. The cast do not resemble the real people much. What I really fear is that the film will once more give a very one sided and biased portrait of Archduchess Sophie as the mother-in-law from hell who allegedly never wanted Elisabeth as empress in the first place.

I think so, too. It would be better if they make a movie about Sophie. Maybe the people understand her more.

I like the images of this movie, new totally for me, although I agree that the actors don't look
like the real characters, specially this that is playing Maximilian, when I saw it after reading the
explanation I thought in several persons less Maximilian
thanks for the info of the Hungarian movie ;-)

Today the movie starts on the German TV and Austrian Tv. I hope it´s good!!

The first part of the new Sisi movie has already been broadcasted yesterday on ORF (Austrian television). I liked it, but the director Xaver Schwarzenberger couldn't keep his promise to stick to political and historical facts. The young Italian actress who portrayed Elisabeth did a good job, but nevertheless, the character of the empress was shown in a very exaggerating way. We all know that Elisabeth was unconventional, headstrong and didn't agree with the rules at the Austrian court, but in the movie these features are definitely overdone. A lot of scenes were invented (for example: Elisabeth met Andrassy shortly after Sophie's birth in Possenofen) and far-fetched (for example: Elisabeth and Franz spent the night after their wedding somewhere in the gardens of Schönbrunn). Besides, the movie focused on the relationship between Elisabeth and Sophie - in short: good vs. bad.
There were also scenes that reminded me of the Sissi movies: Elisabeth's escape to Possenhofen, the scene in the opera in Milano, the couple in awe of the beautiful Hungarian landscape while being in a carriage, etc. The only negative person is again Sophie. Schwarzenberger kept his picture of the archduchess very close to the one of the Sissi movies, which is a pity.
Anyway, the dresses are amazing!! :-)

Ich aber breite trauernd aus
die weiten weissen Schwingen,
Und kehr' ins Feenreich nach Haus -
Nichts soll mich wieder bringen.

I hope it would be available in DVD some day.

Well...we always need a villian or villianess in the story, and Archduchess Sofie fill the task as the Wicked Witch.
