Who was that actress to play Sisi ? She did not look like her at all...

Yes, indeed! And the guy doesn't remind me Franz Joseph very much too. He has dark eyes and Franz had light blue.
Hopefully they will have good masquers and costumers, otherwise I am not sure with impression....

Is the film going to be in German or English ?

In german..

And i also read somewhere that the makers wanted to make it more like what really happend instead of the "Sissi" from ernst marischka movies...
so thats one good thing.. i love the romy schneider version but..i like it as a nice fairytale thing.. so i hope this one really will be more like the truth!!

I did not care too much for the ladies dresses in 'The Crown Prince', but hope they will take a page out of Marischka's costume department. The dresses in the original 'Sissi' were absolutely fabulous and right on! and yes, it was a fairy tale, but I guess it put a number of us on the history path.........

Sisi was a sharp dresser and slipped gracefully from Victorian crinoline to Edwardian bussle to the black slim dresses. She managed to look good in all of them.

Although they do not want the Italian actress to look like Romy Schneider, I think she does........ However, the actor chosen to play FJ... ::) oh well.
I just hope that they follow history and don't come up actresses and actors that do not resemble their characters.
Marischka's trilogie was sugar sweet and history forgotten, but the actors and actresses he picked did look the part and his costumes were absolutely FABULOUS!!

Now if you understand it....

I soon will have news-report on Flemish release of the musical 'Elisabeth' subtitling it now, it has interview with the actress who plays her and shows some flashes from the musical, among them 'I Belong to Me'

Oh, yes, I've seen it before, and I find this song quite amusing. I think my aunt went to see that musical few years ago. I wanted to come too, but I didn't make it...

P.S.: I love the beginning... ***Ich bin Empört... die Monarchie wird zerstört...*** : D

I have just a few days ago seen the Flemish(Belgian) version of the musical, which follows the most recent German preformances, and adored it. The settings, costumes and story. Well it all was so fascinating to see it for real, even though I know the story by heart. At times, I admit, I had to keep tears in - or keep myself from singing. When Elisabeth is singing 'Rudolf, Wo Bist Du' you could hear people sobbing. It was really strong.

I also liked that they used footage of Franz Joseph, pictures and so on during the show. Ann Van den Broeck was lovely as Elisabeth, though I prefer Pia Douwes in the role, also Anne Mie Gills was perfect for the role of Archduchess Sophie - she knows how to show a 'bad' character and still makes it feel as human. She showed Sophie as a woman who tried to preserve the old ways, whatever the cost was. Thomas Hohler was also good as Crown Prince Rudolf, and as he is a German actor I found his Flemish/Dutch really amazing, also Oliver Arno was great as Death, again a German actor, and Jan Schepens did a good job as Luigi Lucheni.

Here are a few pictures:

Credit for all pictures goes to MusicHall Entertainment

After the preformance I heard a woman say 'what a tragic life she had' and one could not be less correct.
I am in fact really hoping for a Cast Recording but now shall have to do with the Dutch recording and recordings in German language.

I have also got a chance to buy 'Mayerling', the book from Claude Annet, which is a film edition for the 1968-film with pictures. I will post these when I can scan. Ava Gardner brings a lovely Sisi in my opinion, a bit miscast yes but wonderful still, wonderful.
