You´re right, Umigon. I suppose Ferdinand was dead when Charles...ehmmm...supplied him in the bed of Germaine. So, this time was Ferdinand who cried out in heavens. I imagine Isabel was laughing at the same time, because she had suffered a lot every time her husband took a mistress... ;)

Well, in the end Isabel became used to it. But if he was discreet there was no problem. Although they loved each other, it had always been a political match, Isabella was intelligent enough to know that. Finding a true love like that of Charles V and Isabel of Portugal's was very rare back then.

isabella was too smart to threaten a union that was as important as hers. remember, their marriage had led to the end of the spanish reconquista. i don't know how much love there was between her and ferdinand (although i'm sure that in a loveless marriage the wife feels humiliated by her husband's affairs too) but i'm sure the political importance of the match outweighed everything.

unfortunatly her daughters didn't share the same rational attitude. i wonder where they inherited theirs from...
