The now defunct weekly BLANCO Y NEGRO published in its issue dedicated to the inauguration of JCI a chart of the succession to the throne in which the last link was Fernando de Baviera, prince of the Royal House of Bavaria. How did this Wittelsbach get to figure as one of the potential heirs to the Spanish throne?

Well, I didn't know that Ferdinand was in the line of succession to the Spanish throne, but the link between him and Spain is the following:

Prince Ferdinand Maria (Madrid 1884 - Madrid 1958) was the son of Prince Ludwig Ferdinand of Bavaria and Infanta Maria de la Paz of Spain. He was naturalized in Spain in 1905, renounced his Bavrian titles and rights to the Bavarian throne in 1914 and was given the title "Infant of Spain". His first wife was Maria Teresa of Spain, a daughter of King Alfonso XII and Archduchess Maria Christina. His descendents are all Infants of Spain.

The last princes of Bavaria who were "infantes de España" with rights to the Spanish throne were Ferdinand's three children:
1) Luis Alfonso of Bavaria y Borbon, infant of Spain (1906-1983). Unmarried
2) José Antonio of Bavaria y Borbon, infant of Spain (1909-1966) who married morganatically Marisol of Messia y Lesseps
3) Maria de las Mercedes of Bavaria y Borbon (1911-1953), infanta of Spain who married morganatically Irakly Bagration-Moukhransky.
José Antonio and his sister have lost their rights because their marriages.

Mercedes' marriage was not morganatic, as her father asked Grand Duke Wladimir about the Bagrations - and he convened several legal experts who ruled that the Bagrations were of equal rank.

True,but if her father asked he did it with the reason...he obviously valued Vladimir's opinion in terms of this situation and wanted to know how to treat this marriage...since Vladimir's opinion was in Bagration family favor than this marriage was treated equal despite other reasons who pointed out why should not be treated like this...

I think a mantilla is much higher. When I was in Spain I saw it was a long lace supported by a huge comb. There is a difference from the ones Ena wore with with Paz is wearing here.
