Tsar's Private Dacha
« on: July 02, 2006, 03:48:59 PM »
I just returned from a trip to St. Petersburg and while there the guide took me to a location called the Tsar's private dacha. There is a plaque there that says it is the birthplace of Alex. It's in ruins and has a fence around it, but if you walk towards the ocean it stops and you can walk around where it ends. I have pictures if anyone is interested. I'm not sure if this topic is a repeat or not.

Dear Troynm,

Please excuse my manners for not welcoming you to our wonderful forum. Welcome! I for one would love to see the pictures you have, and I'm sure if they have not been shared before, others would care to view them. Thank you for your kindness in offering us to view them.

I'm not sure who you're referring to -- can you clarify? My best guess is that you mean the dacha at Alexandria, where Tatiana, Maria, Anastasia, and Aleksei were born.

Welcome aboard!

Yep, you are right. I guess it's Alexandria. The pictures of my trip are at
http://www.fototime.com/inv/E562CD4550DE12C

On the left side where it shows a folder structure click on "Russia" that will organize them into photo galleries by topic or just click on whatever folder you want. I'm still trying to figure out this software. The pictures in question are in the folder "Tsar's Private Dacha"

Yes, it was Nicholas II's uniform. I remember looking at it very closely and reading the info. I do not recall if it said which uniform it represented though.

Troynm,

Thank you so much for the beautiful photographs.  In what state is Alexandria? I thought that there has been a fire there a few years ago.  I also loved the Photographs of Feodorovsky Sobor - my favourite place in SP.
