Russian Empire in photographes
« on: October 08, 2006, 10:55:08 AM »
Hello.

This book was sold on ebay one month ago and it looks so interesting: http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=29324&item=160028283061

It was printed in Russia in 2004 and is written in Russian and English.
Now the most important question: Does anybody know if one can get this book somewhere?

I own it and love it! Lots of great photos of Moscow, St. Petersburg, and the Russian countryside. I got my copy off Ebay, so I don't know where else a person could buy it. If I see it on Ebay again, I'd be happy to let you know.

This is a splendid book, that I remember discussing elsewhere last year on a non book thread.

It is appealing because there are many period photographs of the rural regions, not simply focussing on the larger centers of Imperial Russia.

I have a personal book buyer in Russia who suggests new offerings for me or purchases requests on my behalf. This book was probably among them. Others I purchased myself when I visited Russia. Sorry I cannot help you with this title.

Perhaps e-bay will be your best option?

And the auction ended one month ago. But I would never ever pay 300 Euro for one book, that would be crazy indeed.

Why don't you try Amazon?

I just made a search using the author's name and I found 3 results for the same book. Good luck.

Sorry, but the book we are discussing was published by Liki Rossii, (2004), St. Petersburg.

It is a based on the Russian State Archives of Film and Photo Documents.

Alexander Bokhanov provided introductory notes.
