Something to be proud of
« on: November 16, 2006, 06:10:20 PM »
I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but this is generally a very civil place to be, and I think we should be proud of ourselves. Sure, we have our share of spats and petty annoyances, but for the most part, people seem to be able to forgive and forget (or at least hush up and move on). I saw today that two members who were very publicly irritated with each other (to say the least) not so long ago are now swapping book recommendations like old pals. That's not the first time something of that sort has happened. I've managed to do it a time or two myself. I think this is very cool, and I hope it continues.

Great job, friends!

Yay! It's definately a LOT nicer around here than it is on some other forums. Some credit should be given not only to the respectable people around here, but to the Mods who deal with the off-time irritations. I'm really glad I haven't found as much disputes and arguments as some other places.

Good job, everyone. A ten-woof salute to all!  :)

Thank you Sarah,

Indeed I myself have noticed that the general tone of the forum is 99.9% civilised!  I think it is wonderful that we now have a welcoming, civil place where those genuinely interested can learn, ask and participate in a safe and free environment. ( Of course, the new software which allows me to research and approve new members helps!)

I think the approaching milestone of a QUARTER MILLION POSTINGS, from over 4200 users speaks for itself.

Any time of day or night (yeah, I have occasional insommia  :o  ) there are some 50 plus people or more in the forum, and t hat  is amazing!  the number of universities, high schools, and elementary schools that now use us, and link to the website as part of their required curriculum and as recommended resources only grows! the same for the number of libraries that also link to us as a valuable resource.  That alone speaks glowingly to the fabulous knowledge and scholarship which you all contribute.

This is all something to be proud of! The thanks go to you our users, for all your valuable contributions, our wonderful volunteers who keep us tidy and orderly as well.  Bob's dream only grows, and it is so wonderful to see the evil and negative fade, while the positive, good, and valuable resource that is the Alexander Palace Time Machine continues to flourish worldwide.

We are proud indeed, but without all of YOU, this would be nothing. For this, WE are grateful and honored. You are our honored guests here in our little "cyber home",  This is indeed something to be proud of, but you all should be proud.
